My three fundamental rules of style

I’m not normally a fan of  ’fashion rules’ – I think professional advice should be taken as just that, advice, that can be acted on, or not. Most fashion ‘rules’ can – and should’ be broken! BUT I do thing there are THREE fundamental rules of style that every woman should know, and adhere to.

Here they are:

rule 1a

I’ve just written another post on this point (read it here). A girlfriend of mine called to ask if there was a stylish way to wear UGGS – the answer, my friends, is NO.

Fab Find: Swap My Clothes + GIVEAWAY

How does an unlimited wardrobe sound? THAT got your attention right!? (I know!) well one smart cookie in Auckland is making that a possibility with a new store called Swap My Clothes.

I’ve been lucky enough to do a little work with Swap My Clothes and I love the idea so much I wanted to share it with you guys too!

SW_M_C

Swap My Clothes is an amazing new concept boutique in Parnell, Auckland, that is changing the way we shop (shopping karma is a term a few of us have been using – cute hey!).

It’s like a clothing swap – but it’s permanent. It’s like a recycle boutique – but you don’t have to rely on them to sell your clothes. Basically you don’t shop – you swap!

Here’s how it works:

What to wear on your feet when it’s FREEZING!

Yep – hard-hitting journalism here ladies! But seriously. For those of you not in NZ, let me update you quickly. It was COLD yesterday. Like 17 layers of wool, winds at 100 kph, I can’t feel my fingers, it’s hailing in the middle of the city COLD.

When it’s that cold, you instinct is to just dress as warmly as you can, so when a darling friend and client of mine called me last night to ask is it ok to wear UGG boots outside on a day like today, it’s totally understandable (my answer was still a resounding NO just for the record – controversial I know, but if you want to look like you have a little bit of style, UGGS do not go outside)

True story.

Day 3. The 7 day shoe challenge

Day 3, work. On my feet. All day. This makes is a little tougher! Working on a retail floor can severely limit your shoe services so luckily I have been keeping my eye for the past few years for awesome flats that work on a retail floor, but have a point of difference too. Enter my gold glitter loafers from Seed Heritage …..

they are made from glitter!!

I love them!

Now don’t laugh at me, but I think these shoes are almost a neutral…… they work with HEAPS of stuff! Jeans, skinny pants of almost any colour, and they are super-comfortable!

Day 1. The 7-day shoe challenge

Ok so if I’m going to be really honest, the day started in ugg boots for most of the morning (one of the perks/faults of working from home) BUT I did have to pop out to meet a girlfriend for a lunch meeting so it gave me an excuse to actually put on some other shoes!

So the weather has turned a little bit chiller here in Auckland so sandals are now off the menu for a little while I think – and I have to say, I haven’t started this challenge with THE most exciting shoes… but that just means that I can’t wear them again for another week (which is the whole point – change up your look!)

So here are my shoes for today: Rubi Shoes black ankles boots (these are still in store now in case you are interested)
