Labels I Love: Gorman

OK, so I well and truly failed on my 7-day shoe challenge (I’m still working on the last 3 days….) in the mean time, here is another awesome post on another awesome label…….

I might live in NZ but I am well and truly a proud Aussie so it’s awesome to see my fellow Australians flying our national flag over this side of the ditch. One of my fave Aussie labels is doing amazingly well in NZ and I just had to tell you guys all about it! Introducing GORMAN.

gorman

You may recognise the following frock from such blog posts as WIWT: Blue and Orange and Accessories Week: print + accessories. I may have worn in once or twice (or forty million times) this summer…..

Gorman summer 2012

Gorman summer 2012

I bought it on a whim (as you do) at the start of summer and I can safely say it has been my favourite dress of the season! Well it started my love affair with Gorman and I’m even more excited about the Winter collection that has just hit stores.

I’m totally pumped to tell you a little about their winter collection, you MUST go and buy yourself at least one piece, so here are just a few of my faves:

gormans dresse

1) Unique New York dress AUS $499 2) Love to Love you dress AUS $299

I almost died when I saw the Unique New York dress (let alone tried to say it out aloud – go on, give it a go – see? Not that easy!) I think it’s going to have to make it onto the top of the wish list for winter!

1) 2) 3)

1) Tiki Taka cords AUS $199 2) Tic Tak Toe cardi AUS $299 3) T-bar clog AUS $249

But wait, there’s more – a winter dress or two (just layer up with boots and tights) and a fabulous coat that will work perfectly over either frock – genius I know.

1) 2) 3)

1) Moroccan brocade dress AUS $329 2) Drop waist deco dress AUS $239 3) Golden Palm coat AUS $329

One of the reasons I’m loving Gorman for winter is the rich colour palette (that is NOT black!) the cobalt blue and that gorgeous mustard colour are great for the cooler months because they will look good with black (if you MUST wear it) but they are great for now, when it’s not so cold (famous last words right?!)

Fun colours, cool shapes, Aussie designed! What more can you ask for! Visit the Gorman online store for more details on the whole collection  or if you are in Auckland, visit their flagship store this side of the ditch; Gorman Newmarket, 5/25 Nuffield St.

In the mean time, be sure to keep your eye out for Gorman pieces in some future posts (I just have to get the new purchases past The Boy first, wish me luck!)

What I Wore Today: Geometric Print

If I told you winter was on its way to New Zealand, you wouldn’t believe me! If you have seen the weather we have been having lately, you’d think we are living an endless summer (I wish!)

I was off to see a personal styling client this morning and while this amazing weather is still with us, (because I know winter will come strong and swift!) I want to get as much wear out of all my pretty summer frocks as I can!

This is the latest addition to my wardrobe – a cute little 50′s frock from New Zealand label Jill & Ange. The label is designed and made right here in New Zealand and is the brain-child of sisters, Jillian and Angela (just in case you were wondering how they came up with the name of the label, I think it has something to do with their first names…..just sayin‘)

I picked up this neat little piece at last weekend’s Designer Garage Sale here in Auckland…..

It fits me like a glove! Love it

STOP THE PRESSES! This is the best news ever! Amazing Aussie label Sacha Drake (I talk about her a lot! Read more about the label here) is now AVAILABLE IN NEW ZEALAND! And even more exciting, you can get it directly from me! (go directly to the online store here)

In a great new partnership, Sacha herself has been kind enough to send me a small range of her STRETCH SOLUTIONS basics that you can either order from the blog HERE or if you are in Auckland, you can come into my studio and try the pieces for yourself. (Visit the Contact Us page to contact me directly about trying on Sacha Drake in my studio)

IT’S ALL ABOUT BODY SHAPES:

One of the things I love the most about the Sacha Drake label is it encourages women to embrace and love the body shape they have. I’m passionate about this subject too! (in fact, most of what I know about dressing for you shape comes from my experiences with the Sacha Drake label)

Sacha Drake garments make ALL body shapes look amazing!

CLASSICS TO LAST A LIFETIME

You know how I always go on about value for money? Well this brand is the epitome of value for money! The quality is exquisite, the design is original yet classic and the fabrics will stand the test of time (a statement I can personally vouch for! I have Sacha Drake dresses in my own wardrobe that have lasted me almost 10 years now – and the still look as flattering and stunning as the day I bought them!). Priced from $200 – $600 NZD, this brand is an investment you have to make!

Over the past 6 months, so many of my personal styling clients have told me that there is a gap in the market! Here is NZ we are missing clothes for women in their 30′s and 40′s that still feel young and feminine, but aren’t just another chain store buy, or that fall apart after a few wears. Does this sound like something you need in your wardrobe? I think so!

If you have any questions at all about the label, please feel free to leave a comment, or shoot me an email at chasingcait@gmail.com. To visit the full Sacha Drake website, click here
