Day 2. The 7 day shoe challange

Day 2 – rain. Awesome! You’re not making this easy for me NZ! For those of you playing along at home, the aim over the next 7 days is to wear 7 different pairs of shoes. We all get into our own style ruts and I’m no different. I have HEAPS of shoes, yet tend to wear the same ones all the time – hence setting myself this challenge for the 2nd year running.

So today consisted of a trip to the vet with the fur baby (she’s fine), friends for brunch and a trip to the airport (playing taxi for sis & bro-in-law). So many different destinations and activities made it pretty hard to choose appropriate footwear to cover all bases….. so I went for a pretty colour instead.

The 7-day shoe challenge is back!

I have a few pairs of shoes. Ok, I have quite a few pairs of shoes. OK I have A LOT of shoes. But I always seem to gravitate towards the same couple of pairs depending on the weather/what I’ wearing/ what I’m doing etc .

i love shoes

Last year I found myself in the same shoe-rut so I set my self a challenge – I had to wear a DIFFERENT pair of shoes every day for 7 days. Here are the results from last year; Day 1, Day 2, Day 3, Day 4, Day 5 & 6 (I got lazy) and Day 7

The hand luggage challenge: 5 days away, one bag

So I’m popping back across the ditch to visit my family in Brisbane for a few days. Booked the ticket a few weeks ago, “nah… I won’t need check in, I’ll just carry on…” HELLO!? Have I met me?!?! I can’t take just carry-on for ONE night away let alone 5!

Then The Boy suggested that maybe there’s a blog post lurking somewhere in this mess. Challenge set. Challenge accepted.

The GOOD thing about BrisVegas is that I’m staying with my mum and dad, so won’t need to worry about all those things that seem to just add huge amounts of weight and take up all the room in luggage; hair-dryer, shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste. So toiletries-wise I’m sorted.

The other good thing about this trip is that it’s just a quick visit to see family, so no super-special occasions requiring me to frock up (or even wear heels for that matter) so that limits the need to pack too much.

Ok, enough waffling…. let’s cut to the chase. How did I do! Well this is what I’m packing…..

I still can't believe that this is ALL I'm taking for 5 days away

I still can’t believe that this is ALL I’m taking for 5 days away

What I Wore Today: Geometric Print

If I told you winter was on its way to New Zealand, you wouldn’t believe me! If you have seen the weather we have been having lately, you’d think we are living an endless summer (I wish!)

I was off to see a personal styling client this morning and while this amazing weather is still with us, (because I know winter will come strong and swift!) I want to get as much wear out of all my pretty summer frocks as I can!

This is the latest addition to my wardrobe – a cute little 50′s frock from New Zealand label Jill & Ange. The label is designed and made right here in New Zealand and is the brain-child of sisters, Jillian and Angela (just in case you were wondering how they came up with the name of the label, I think it has something to do with their first names…..just sayin‘)

I picked up this neat little piece at last weekend’s Designer Garage Sale here in Auckland…..

It fits me like a glove! Love it

Accessories Week: How to store your jewellery

Accessories Week is almost done! We’ve talked about several things;

So now that you know the how, and the where (we talked a little about that in post number 1) – let’s talk about how to store all your amazing accessories so that putting them on in the morning is easy – because you can find them all! Here are a few tips on how to store your pretty bits and bobs:

Keep everything in plain sight

If you have a drawer full of jewellery just stacked on top of each other, you will only end up wearing the pieces that you can see on top! (Having organised accessories is JUST as important as having an organised wardrobe! Read THAT post here).

I use ice-cube trays to store my rings so I have every single one on view:
