Sneak Peak: Boohoo Autumn/Winter 2013

Watch out credit card! My love for online shopping is back! (not that it really went away…..) This morning I was lucky enough to go and have a look first hand at some of the cute pieces from boohoo.com that will keep us looking fab this Autumn and Winter and it got my shopping buzz going!

Checking out all the new goodies!!

Checking out all the new goodies!!

I know, I know, it’s still only Feb, and winter is a while away…. but that doesn’t mean we can’t get excited and start to plan ahead – and the best thing about the range I saw today?? It’s available NOW!!! (One of my biggest pet peeves in fashion is looking at ranges 6 months before anyone gets to wear the bloody clothes!)

So here are a few choice pieces (can you tell I live in NZ now?!) from the range I saw today…. and yes, several are already sitting in my shopping basket waiting for me to hit the BUY NOW button….

Gumboots – practical or fashionable?

Or can they be both? I think so! Not only are gumboots practical for keeping your feet (and half your legs) dry on a rainy day, they can also make a great statement piece for what would probably be a drab, boring, wet-weather outfit. (Let’s face it, if you are anything like me, all you are thinking about when it’s cold and dark and wintery and you are getting dressed is “What is going to keep me the warmest and the least wet today!”).

Well a bright, fun, fashionable pair of gumboots can keep you warm and dry on a wet day, AND make you feel fabulous at the same time! You might have seen me rocking my bright pink gumboots in my 7-day shoe challenge (read the post here) and can I tell you, I have hardly taken them off since!

Day 7 of my 7-day shoe challenge I chose to wear my gumboots

Seven day shoe challenge – Days 5 and 6

Short and sweet (explains both this post, and apparently my attention span for 7-day challenges). Yesterday and today were both sight-seeing adventures around Auckland city and beyond with the family so to be fair, shoe choices (and time to right blog posts about said shoe choices) were limited… but I gave it a go!

Day 5.

A trip to the north-west and the black beaches of Piha – I wasn’t really cheating wearing different Converse shoes was I? Well if I was, I saved the day by changing my shoes to head to dinner and a visit to the in-laws.

This second pair of shoes was a result of my shoe-shopping expedition with mum on Thursday night. Because clearly I don’t have enough pairs of loafers (read the original post here) I needed to secure another pair…. but they are different from the three I already have ok Mum?!

Two for the price of one! The flats are my newest purchase from Rubi shoes (available in store and online now for $34.95), the Converse cost my $10 at the Roselle Markets in Sydney – they have never been worn. Bargain!

The seven day shoe challenge – Day 3

My family arrived in Auckland today to visit from Australia (yay!) So a trip to the airport was involved. As was quite a lot of what my family likes to call piss-farting around. This is where everyone is ready to go…. except for one person, who is normally looking for a set of keys, or a jumper…. or a pair of shoes to wear (not pointing any fingers….. ok that was me).. but that is beside the point (I just had to mention that for my little brother, who is often at the receiving end of the afore mentioned piss-farting).

Sooooooo, the moral of the rant is that today’s activities called for some practical shoes to walk around this beautiful city that I now live in….. enter my trusty Converse Chuck Taylors.

When all else fails…. pull out the connies!

My winter wardrobe wishlist

So not sure if I’ve mentioned it before, but it’s a little cold here in New Zealand (oh I have? My bad!). And I’m sure I HAVE mentioned before that the weather in New Zealand has negated about 80% of my wardrobe as inappropriate! (I’ve come from Queensland! My whole wardrobe consists of silk maxi dresses).

Before I moved to NZ, I wrote a blog about what I THOUGHT my winter wardrobe would look like in NZ (click here to read it). What is that saying? “if you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans” well if you want to make the wardrobe gods laugh, tell them what you THINK you are going to wear in a different climate!
