Everyone needs a fabulous maxi dress for summer. One that they can pull out for almost any occasion.
And guess what! I’ve found one!
Check out this great jersey maxi from Betty Basics… it comes in three different colours – black, navy blue and grey/white stripe.

And that last point, versatility, is why I’ve styled it in three different ways for you! As many of you know, this is my favourite series on the blog – I LOVE sharing how you can get the most out of your clothes (it’s one of the reasons I love my 1-on-1 style coaching sessions so much).
So here is the Libson Jersey Maxi (in the petrol blue size 12) worn three different ways…..
The Usual Suspects.
Denim shirt + trainers is pretty much my staple way of dressing anything down. Plus the denim shirt tied around your waist gives you that little bit of extra tummy camouflage…..

Layered Up.
This is one way that I think people don’t explore wearing a dress so much…. turn it into a skirt! I found this cute little crop tee that I probably wouldn’t wear just with pants or shorts, but it’s perfect layered over the dress!

Daytime Glam.
Who says a maxi dress just has to be worn casually. You can totally dress it up for something a little more fancy, it’s great for a daytime event that is a “smart/casual” dress code.
A little wedge never goes astray, plus the high-low hem of this dress shows off your fabulous shoes perfectly!

So much versatility in one dress! It’s one of the biggest reasons I choose this particular maxi to put in my Shop. The collections in the Shop are designed to reflect what I think you will get the most bang for buck out of.
I’ve put a lot of thought into the pieces in the collections, after all – it’s the shop built specifically for you my lovely 🙂
So now you know how to wear it, you just need to work out what colour you want!

Hi Cait would this dress suit tall girls too?
Hi Louise, I’m 5 ft 10 so yes 🙂
You are clever. I love this blog, just when we needed maxi advice you hit the nail on the head!
oh thanks lady! x
LOVE the idea of wearing a tee over the top! Looking forward to styling my grey stripey many ways, thanks Cait!
pleasure! And we have the slightly milder summer weather here that lets us layer like that too 🙂
Hi Cait. You mention that this maxi is a fine for us petite gals. Can any maxi be worn by petites or is this one different somehow? I’d love to wear a maxi but always thought I’d look too small in one!
Hey Fiona, GREAT question!
with some maxi dresses, there is just too much fabric if you are on the smaller side, the style can swamp you. Because this one is slightly more fitted (and doesn’t actually touch the ground) it tends to be a maxi that you can wear without getting lost in it 🙂 does that help a little?
Oh course, I always default to the “if YOU love wearing something, then just wear it, no matter what” theory – so if you love a big, floaty maxi, then go for it too! xx
