Shhhhhhh don’t tell anyone, but I’m getting older. In fact we all are (fun way to start a blog haha!).
But the reality is, we are, and the older we get, the more we have to start taking better care of ourselves.
No more coming home late from a night out and just crashing into bed, full face of make up and all (uh oh, panda eyes!). No more eating maccas every Friday night and not expecting to put on weight (wait what?!)
As a chick who is now (almost) closer to 40 than I am to 30, I’ve really started thinking about what I’m putting into my mouth, and also onto my skin. Organic skin care and makeup seems to make sense.
Natural ingredients, no nasties that block up your skin (and are absorbed BY your skin into your body!) I think that sounds like a good idea don’t you?
I’m working with the team at Anchor Organic Milk to explore the growing trend towards organic products, both in the kitchen, the wardrobe and on our beauty shelves! Here are a couple of organic beauty brands that I think you need to try.
They are affordable, amazing quality and GOOD for you!
1. Moreish Skincare
It’s called Moreish because once you try it, you can’t get enough of it!
Made with 100% organix moroccan argan oil, and containing no parabens (sneaky chemicals that can mimic estrogen and raise levels in the body) or phenoxyethanol (a chemical preservative that can make your skin irritated or itchy!) this brand of products includes cleansers, moisturisers a yummy hand cream and a pure agean oil they call “Pure Gold”.
The whole Moreish range is really affordable, with the collection ranging from $20-$30 and is available at Countdowns in NZ and Priceline in Aus.
2.Inika
Ok make-up time! INIKA has smashed the myth that natural make-up has to compromise on performance or fashion. Certified organic, vegan, halal, and cruelty-free, this brand ticks all the boxes!
With lip colours like “Bordeaux Bliss” and “Rose Bud” this brand brings it all to you, without having to worry about what chemical preservatives and potential carcinogens you are putting on your skin.
Amazing bronzers and blushes, dreamy smooth foundations and eye and lip colours for days, the only problem will be deciding where to start!
Inika is available in New Zealand from the gorgeous Vanilla Bloom online store and Hardy’s healthfood stores around the country and prices range from $24.99 for some brushes to $69.99 for foundations.
3. Essano Skincare
You KNOW this is a fave of mine, and it’s a fave not only because it smells AMAZING, and I love the pink packaging (marketer’s dream right here people) BUT its all based on the divine rosehip oil, it’s like super-food for your skin.
You whole beauty routine, face and body, is covered by this awesome brand. With face and body washes, exfoliators, creams for day and night, and once again, the jewel in the crown, Rosehip oil (remember how much I loved it to help heal my scar?).
Again, this amazing brand is available from supermarkets nationwide in both Aus and NZ, ranging from $15 – $35.
So there are three amazing brands that are not only great for your skin, but nice and friendly to your bank balance too. You’re welcome 😉
Have you even thought about what you’re putting ON your skin and how it ends up in your body? Do you already use organic beauty products? Tell my what brands you use, I’d love to find more!

Essano is on sale at countdowm this week
oh awesome! thanks for the heads up Renata!
Essano is amazing. I have combination sensitive skin and have honestly looked for yonks to find a moisturising product that prevents my skin from over oiling but doesn’t turn it into a red mess. Someone suggested I buy the rosehip oil and I instantly thought ‘oil? On my face?!’ But since trying it, it has been a blessing and has helped lessen the scarring, redness and blemishes. So good.
SO amazing isn’t it Kate.
TOTALLY agree with you on the ‘say what?!’ about oil on face, but how amazing is it!
I looove Essano! I just got the Night Creme and I’m loving it. I’m trying to hunt down some of the SPF 15 day moisturiser though cause I’m out!
oh yay! It really is the bees knees!
There’s an app you can get called Think Dirty and you can create a “Makeup cabinet” of your items, present and future, that gives each product a Dirty Rating dependant on the ingredients in them (is an American app but has a big range of products as it also provides Users with the ability to add products simply by listing the ingreidents list on the back of the packaging). It’s very interesting what you can find out!
Sorbet are a fabulous NZ company who make solid shampoos / conditioners / moisturisers / cleansers etc, with no nasties. They’re awesome products that work, and last for ages. And no plastic bottles so much better for the environment. They have a great blog that talks about what theyre about, Brie really knows her stuff, and about lots of cosmetics issues. Check them out http://www.sorbetcosmetics.com
awesome! thanks for the heads up lady! I’ll be sure to check them out x
I love love love Essano, have switched over just recently and I think my skin looks great! I’ve also tried Organic Source in the past (from Vanilla Bloom) and I really liked that too. I’m keen to try Moreish as well. Thanks for the awesome (budget friendly) tips!
My pleasure! Always happy to share my new finds and so happy to hear you’re an Essano fan!
