As I write this, I’m sitting on my back deck, under the umbrella in a summer dress and bare feet. I cannot tell you how happy that makes me!

We are well and truly in the grips of Spring, which means Summer is not far away (about time woop woop!) so now is the time to start planning for it, and what better way than giving your life a bit of a Spring Clean!

Spring

This blog is as much for me as it is for you. I’m writing it partly to inspire you, but partly to hold myself accountable to the things I say I’m going to do! I hope that’s ok with you haha!

So here are 3 things I’m doing to get ready for Summer, and I hope you’ll join me and be Summer-ready too!

Sort out your wardrobe

Well duh. Of course I would say that!

But I’m also walking the walk on this one. I’ve switched over my Winter and Summer gear (good-bye tights and merino), I’ve cleared out all the clothes I haven’t worn in the past little while, and I’ve made a plan of what I’m looking to buy for Summer (don’t worry Sara, I’m sticking to the budget! She’s my financial advisor, I have to appease her 😉 )

A new season is a great way to re-invent your style. Think about what you wore this time last year, does it still reflect who you are? Does it still suit your life style? Does it still fit you?

If you’re in Auckland or Wellington, I can also help you get your wardrobe on track for Summer – just come along to one of my Finding Your Style Workshops, or book me for a 1-on-1 styling package (AKL only) and we can get you sorted!

Sort out your body

The second thing I’ve done is gone and got my body sorted on the inside. (I’ve recently come off the pill, and the readjustment from synthetic hormones to just dealing with my regular ole ones has not been fun!) So off I went to the amazing Hannah at Live Moore.

She ran a comprehensive test on my body to see what was functioning (my ovaries and brain are just fine apparently) and what wasn’t (my liver, kidneys and gall-bladder on the other hand….) and has prescribed me herbs and minerals to try to get everything back on track.

My yummy concoction of herbs. Might not taste great but it's doing all the good things to my insides

My yummy concoction of herbs. Might not taste great but it’s doing all the good things to my insides

I’ve been taking them for just over two weeks and I’ve definitely noticed the difference in my energy levels (which was a big issue for me)

Feel good, look good right? I know I talk a lot about what goes on the outsides of our bodies (it’s kinda my job) but I’m just as passionate about what’s happening on the inside. If you don’t feel good inside, you’re not going to have the confidence and drive to look good on the outside either – ya feel me?

Sort out your mind

So this might seem like it should fit in the “sort out your body” category, and it sure does, but exercise is such a mental thing for me. Lack or exercise makes me feel groggy, tired and sad, so it’s something I really need to work on more.

I’ve set myself two exercise goals to keep my mental health pumping this summer.

Firstly, I’ve just signed up to compete in an Ocean Swim in March next year. Now I know it seams like a ways away, but it’s GREAT motivation for me to actually get to the pool. Basically, if I don’t train, I drown. Pretty good motivation huh!

I’ve also promised myself to get to my Zumba class more regularly. This is totally me, but I don’t care!

I LOVE my Zumba teacher (hi Shar!!) and I feel amazing when I go – it doesn’t feel like exercise, the best kind right?

(If you’re in Auckland, and you want to have a giggle while you exercise, come along! All the deets are here.)

Do you use Spring as a time to re-assess life and get sorted? Any tips and tricks you’d like to share on how to Spring Clean your life? I’d love to know, tell us in the comments below!

Until Next Time, In Love & Style Always,
