The short answer is no.

Don’t be put off by a horizontal stripe, they are actually great camouflage for most parts of our bodies. The create a distraction from those tiny lumps and bumps (that no one else can see btw), especially when it comes to more fitted pieces of clothing.

In fact, a VERTICAL stripe can be a little tricky (I mean lots of stripes, not just one vertical line) as it tends to follow and highlight all the little lumps and bumps (again, that no one can see anyway).

Stripes are definitely my go-to print at the moment. Navy and white are running in first place, but I’m also loving this cool colour combo from NZ label Ketz-ke…..(and yes that is my cat photobombing)

The different width stripes create texture, but also follow the shape of my body in a much more flattering way that vertical stripes would.

So the moral of this wee story, don’t be scared of a horizontal stripe! They are actually much more flattering than you have been lead to believe!
