Today’s post is just a quick one, but a very important one. With all this talk of love in the air I think it’s important to take a minute and think about SELF LOVE. Now I don’t mean the wanky (can I say ‘wanky in a blog post?!)Â Â happy-clappy, incense-burning (sorry to anyone who burns incense) kind of self-love.
I mean the “this is who I am, and I’m awesome, and I don’t have to change who I am for anyone, including myself” kinda self love.
Did you read this post a few weeks ago about Marie Claire’s Body Love Campaign? As a whole, women don’t accept themselves and their bodies until they are 45…. FOURTY FIVE!!!!  That makes me sad.
Why do we do that? We spend all our ‘young years’ hating on our bodies, comparing our bodies to others and in a lot of cases, starving our bodies of the good nutrition we need to survive just to look thinner. It’s time to STOP.
Everyone has parts of their bodies that they are not a fan of, but it’s time to stop focusing on those parts and focus on the parts you DO LIKE. Â Women are so much more complimentary of OTHER women than they are of themselves, but we are going to change that so I’ve set you a little bloggy task this week……
It can be your hair, your legs, or even your fingernails!
It’s all about turning those negative thoughts about ourselves into positive ones. Look at your body in a different light – it’s the only one you have so you may as well love it right? So once you have worked out what those parts of your body are, I want to you to focus on them when you look in the mirror – not scrutinise that tinnnnnnnny bit of what you think is cellulite (that no one else can see). FOCUS ON THE GOOD.
Now I KNOW you are reading this – and I know that maybe you don’t comment on the blog because often you feel like you don’t have anything else to add… well this time there is NO EXCUSE! If you are reading this, you have something to say! So go on – jump down to the comments below and talk to me!
You don’t need to sign in, just use your email addy and I will see your comment. I want to hear those three things that you love… and I’ll start.
I love my hair – it’s long and shiny and does what I tell it (most of the time).
I love my height – I used to be uncomfortable being tall, but I’ve learned to love it, and wouldn’t change it for the world
I love my legs – One of the advantages of being tall is that I have some alright pins – my grandpa used to call me “legs 11” and it kinda stuck.
Ok, now you go……
In Love & Style Always
