The Race That Stops the Nation (well, technically two nations….) might have come and gone, but racing season has only just got going here in NZ! With two more major race days just here in Auckland, plus more nationally, there is still plenty of occasions to frock up and strut your stuff around the race-track (or is that just the horses?)
I’m heading to the track on Feb 28th for Derby Day at Ellerslie Races and I need to find an outfit stat! So whilst I’ve been doing the research for me, I thought I’d share with you a couple of different options for the races, at a couple of different price points – something for everyone!
SHOP THE LOOK: St Frock godess maxi in Geisha print $69 |Â Forever New “Kelly heels” $49.95 | Colette Hayman floral garland $9.95 – TOTAL: $128.90
This bright dress (belt is separate) is perfect for a Summer race day! Continue the floral theme with a headpiece rather than a hat or fascinator – bright shoes complete the look, a delicate shoe works best with this full-on print.
SHOP THE LOOK: Alannah Hill “Kiss Me, Chase Me” Dress $249 | Colette by Colette Hayman wide brim hat $15 | Spurr from The Iconic “Khloe” peep toe heels $19.94Â
Florals always work for the races. This STUNNING dress from Alannah Hill will show off curves if you have them, and give them to you if you don’t! Simple and classic accessories will compliment, without outshining this gorgeous dress.
SHOP THE LOOK: Trelise Cooper “Butterfly Kisses” dress $419 | Mr W & Me “Chance Encounter” heels $30 | Johnny Loves Rosie fascinator from Asos $72.91
I’m LOVING this print from Trelise Cooper (this is definitely a contender for my race day look!) – Try some different accessories than you normally would. Bold, black pieces will make this print pop, and give your look a cool edge.

love no 2 as it would suit any age most figures and the colours are so refreshing
I like look 3 as it I never would have thought to add black or mix the stripe shoes with the patterened dress. Would be great to try a new look.
I love the under $300 look! reason being is that is not something i would ever pick out for myself on a normal shopping trip but the style and colouring of the dress and shoes and hat look amaze!

I love the under $300 look! That dress is made for girls with bums and boobs just like me. Also it’s just the right length!!
I love look one. It’s the cheapest but looks gorgeous!! Do love the black fascinator in look three though 🙂
both good choices Kirsten! Good luck in the comp x
Ooooh I’m torn between Look 2 & 3! However, if my knees were fit to be seen I’d definitely choose the Trelise dress 🙂
Reason being I love the colour with the black accessories.
oh nice! I’m glad you like the black – its something a little different from the old neutral look isn’t it!
Look three seems to be the most popular! And a little fake tan always helps the knees 😉
I like all 3 actually but my fav is the Trelise Cooper dress/outfit!
Good choice! And good luck in the comp! x
I love look number 2. Love the print and showing off the curves
You would look AMAZING in that dress too!!! x
I’m totally not eligible to apply given my geographical location…. (Lydia my counterpoint should though).
But can’t resist sharing my favourite look. I love them all (always a genius you are) but the full Trelise Cooper look is my favourite. May just have to buy the look anyway
You could make a weekend out of it! I’m SO in love with that dress (which is mainly why I used it haha!) x
I love the $600 look!! Slightly out of my price range but would get saving :-p Love the summery colors and style – I have a few dresses in that style and I love them!!
