Sooooo today is my birthday – yay! But I’m not getting a present from The Boy today (booo!) no, don’t be sad, I got a pretty good one last year…. wanna see? Watch this……
So that happened on my birthday last year, this is what the ring looks like (plus I’m getting it’s matching mate next month!!)
Kinda hard to top – so I’m really ok with not getting much this year 😉 BUT I’ve still put together a wish list of the things I would LIKE to get for my birthday (and I suppose you can use it as a Christmas Gift Guide too if you want……)Â
SHOP THE WISHLIST….
1. ghd curve ‘classic wand’ $200: I LOVE the product – I was lucky enough to try it a few weeks back and my hair never looked better. The relaxed, beachy wave comes out just the way I like it (not to ringlet-y and not too loose) and it’s really easy to use.
2. Glasshouse Special Edition Megan Hess candle $58: Candles are officially the best presents in the world I think. They last, they add ambiance to any room, and they look really pretty too. IÂ love everything Megan Hess does (she’s an amazing fashion illustrator) so combine her stunning illustration with my fave candles – what more could a girl want!
3. Senso heels from The Iconic $295: I’ve got the black, and now I want the white. These senso heels are SUPER-comfy, and super stylish, and I LOVE white, so these have gone straight to the top of my wish list!
4. A years worth of facials from Caroline Hailstone at Skin Perfector (poa): now I must admit, I’ve actually been doing this for a year already in the lead up to the wedding, but I’m trying to think of any excuse to keep it going for another year (and another year, and another). Not only is Caroline lovely to spend time with, she is incredibly knowledgeable and looks at what you skin needs on any given day rather than just doing the ‘usual’ – she has got my skin wedding-ready so comes highly recommended if you are in Auckland.
5. Maiko Nagao print from Collected $65: This is just one of those things you never think to buy for yourself (well maybe you don, but I don’t haha!) so is always nice to receive (or give) as a gift. What a gorgeous print to hang in a home office, bedroom or living room.
GIVEAWAY TIME!
So that’s what I’d like for my birthday, but how about something for YOU my gorgeous readers – after all, giving is more fun than receiving (except last year, it was pretty good to receive that present)
The gorgeous team at Essano skincare have given me FIVE packs (containing their awesome exfoliator and divine rosehip oil, both of which I’ve been using) to give away to five lucky readers.
TO WIN – simply tell me about YOUR BEST birthday present ever given or received – answer in the comments below
Until Next Time,

My 30 birthday was best, my husband through out the year, when he saw something small that I would love, he purchased it and squirrelled it a way to this day. And I had lots of little presents to open on the hour, the last being my engagement ring. I cried tears of joy all day. It sounds like you day was just as special.
OMG that makes my heart melt!! so much thought – what a great present 😉
Happy Birthday beautiful Chicky babe…this is Rikki from Perth…we met through my a Sacha Drake Obsession…my birthday was on the 18th…Big 40…It may sound corny but this year my children 10, 8 and 6 spent your birthday making me things…my son made a wooden sign saying ‘love u mum’…the 6 year old used all her Christmas cards, which were intended for her school friends, wishing me happy 41st…and the middle child made owl magnets…super cute!!!! Have a beautiful memorable Christmas filled with joy, love and relaxation…Rikki xx
Hello gorgeous lady!!!! Oh no wonder we got on so well, both Sagittarians 😉

My best birthday present was a surprise dinner and visit from my Mum and sister after I’d told everyone that I didn’t want a fuss made.
One of my best birthday presents was a pamper voucher from my partner which included an afternoon of facial, massage mani and pedi I felt so relaxed and ready for a fun evening out with friends. It was great because I don’t treat myself like that as often as I should.
ooooooh that sounds so lovely! x
Best birthday present ever was when I was given Kee Kee my cat…..
There was a knock on the door.. I opened it to find a box and she was inside ! The friend who gave her to me then jumped out from around the corner ! Best . Surprise . Ever ! ( back in 2003) love my fur baby xxx
oh that IS a good present!! CUTEEEEEE! xx
Happy Birthday to you!! My best birthday present was from my now husband, then newish boyfriend (been together 7 months). He took me to Melbourne for a long weekend!!! Lucky me.
thanks Mel! Oh that is a great present – trips are always awesome xx
happy birthday Cait! Hope you were thoroughly spoiled 🙂
My best present is always a night out with my girlfriends.
Thanks Kate!! that is always a great present x
My best birthday gift ever was my gorgeous wee girl Sadie being born two days before my birthday. Now we celebrate our birthdays together every year ….. So much fun!
oh that is SUCH a gorgeous present!! xx
My favourite Birthday present was a surprise visit from a very dear friend I hadn’t seen for 18 months. Such fun 🙂
so lovely!! surprise presents are the best! (I got a pretty good surprise last year 😉
As cheesy and cliched as it sounds, my best birthday present ever was my little 2yo waking me up with a kiss and a whispered ‘happy birthday my beautiful mama’. How do you not float through your birthday on cloud 9 after that? I hope you feel the love on your birthday 🙂
that is so divine! adorable xx
My birthday present was a birthday/christmas present from my mum and it was a car! My mum is the best! 🙂 xx
ooooooh that is the ONLY good excuse for a combined present haha – a car! Score!
My favourite birthday present would have to be the surprise lunch my colleagues threw me. They’d scheduled in a ‘working lunch to discuss BD’ in my diary (BD meaning business development) and I was clueless about it. The look on my face must have been priceless when all was revealed…
haha that’s awesome!!
Happy Birthday 🙂
The best birthday gift i have received was a voucher for a spa treatment and an offer to babysit so i could go. As a single parent it is hard to afford luxuries, and when you can there is usually the problem of finding childcare 🙂
oh that sounds perfect Anita!
Happy birthday Cait!! Guess it would be hard to top last year’s present hey? My favourite gift I have received is a set of flamingo string lights. I know they are a bit of fun and nothing overly sentimental but I think they are my favourite because the person that gave them to me knew me well enough to know that I would completely and utterly love them!
thanks Kelly, yes I don’t think he’ll ever top it haha!
Those lights sound amazing – I want some!
