Sick of the ole jeans and jumper yet? Me too! And winter isn’t even anywhere near over. (insert sad emoji here).
I was talking to some of my lovely StyleMe ladies last night, and one of the things that came up was that they were looking for some different options for Winter. And I mentioned the dress!
People are often quick to put the dress firmly into the “summer only” category but I disagree! There are so many fabulous winter dresses out there, and they are sooooo much easier to wear – you just have to put on 1 thing! None of this, “how do I wear this top with these pants?”, ” do I have to tuck something into this skirt?” dramas. Just put it on and you are good to do.
Well almost, to combat the cold, there are a couple of extras that you need to keep you warm but I will get to those shortly.
Firstly, let’s have a look at five of my favourite winter dresses you can get your hands on right now!
SHOP THE FROCKS: Max “Freya” Flare Dress $159.99^ | Cait & Co Miracle Dress $85 | Decjuba “Aster” roll neck dress $129.95^ | Bohemian Traders stripe maxi dress $156.32^ | Esprit faux suede dress in navy $119.95
Look for dresses that are made from thicker fabrics, have longer arms, and you can layer underneath.
Ok, so now you have the dress, but how do you keep extra-warm! Put on your winter skin my friend (wow, that sounds kinda creepy when I say it out aloud like that!) but actually. This simple layer underneath will make wearing a dress in winter a piece of cake.
All you need is…..
- A merino camisole. This one from Kathmandu is my go-to. It’s a merino/silk blend so its extra soft and doesn’t add any bulk under your clothes. But man does it keep you warm!
- Fleece-lined tights. If you really do feel the cold, these puppies from Max are like ugg boots for your whole legs! Yes, you read that right. They are fleece-lined all the way up, so super-warm!
- A black ankle boot. These are my all-time faves from Hannahs Shoes, they basically help make your “winter leg” look longer, plus the leather will help keep your feet warm!
I love a winter dress as something different to wear! You can often be quite a bit warmer in them even than jeans! (remember, jeans are made from denim, and denim is just cotton!). Obviously you can also add a coat or jacket on top of the dress, a good leather jacket is always a favourite of mine!
Now go forth and wear a dress! If it’s not normally your winter jam, I promise you’ll be pleasantly surprised!
