BUT FIRST – A BUMP UPDATE!
Here’s a quick snap of the growing belly for those who are interested 😉 You can also follow my pregnancy style with #everydaystyle over of Facebook and Instagram – but don’t worry if you’re not pregnant! There will still be heaps of every day style inspo coming your way too! Including this post!
But man, no body tells you how many funny things your body does when you are pregnant right? Bits are suddenly bigger, or smaller, or not where they used to be already haha!
At just over 5 months along, I’ve just crossed the line from “getting away with squeezing into my normal pants” to “where the maternity jeans at!” The little monkey has made my tummy expand to that awkward point where I’m not fully fitting into most maternity stuff quite yet – know what I mean?
BUT, I have enough clothes that I don’t really want to (or need to) be spending money on heaps of maternity wear, so I’m trying to be creative about using what I’ve already got (or if I am buying something, can it be something I can use after birth)
So I thought I’d share with you some of the best things I’ve found to help my survive the first half of my pregnancy in (relative) style that YOU guys can use too, pregnant or not!
SHOP MY PREGNANCY STYLE
1. CottonOn Kellie muscle dress from $19.95.
I have been LIVING in this dress since before I even found out I was pregnant. It’s got stretch, length, it’s machine washable (always a winner for me!) AND it comes in like TWENTY colours and patterns (of which I already own 4).
I know I go on about this dress a bit, but it really has been a god-send with my expanding belly! You will be seeing A LOT of it in upcoming #everydaystyle posts over the next few months haha
2. Kmart textured tracksuit pants $15
Who doesn’t love Kmart? And I’m loving these textured trackies when I need to chill at home, or run an errand. The waist-band sits quite low, so fits under my growing belly really well.
These are awesome pregnant or not! Plus with the current trend for wearing trackies as Sporty-Luxe, you’ve got that covered (check out my post on how to wear trackies outside for more inspo)
3. FRANKiE4 Footwear JENNi trainers $234.95
I might be growing a human, but that doesn’t mean I’m sitting around doing nothing, that’s for sure! My personal styling client bookings are higher than even so that means lots of hours walking around shopping centers, and going through people s wardrobes.
Lots of time on my feet means I have to extra-careful with the shoes I’m wearing, so I’ve been pulling out my FRANKiE4 JENNi trainers on multiple occasions! Comfort and style combined in a gorgeous gold bundle, what more could a girl ask for!
4. Essano Rosehip Oil $24.99
If you are a regular reader of the blog you know that I’ve been a fan of Essano since forever! So when I discovered I was pregnant, I stocked up right away on their rosehip oil and have been slathering it on my tummy ever since.
Once again, you don’t need to be up the duff to benefit from this amazing product though! It’s great for minimising fine lines, scars and sun damage too!
5. Jeanswest Maternity Jeans from $79.99
OK, so these ARE maternity-specific, but just a heads up out there for anyone ever intending to get pregnant, like ever. These are THE BEST thing that will happen to you style-wise!
You know I”m already a fan of Jeanswest (and their Prima denim jeans particularly) and they haven’t failed to disappoint in the maternity section! The band on the top of the jeans is super-comfy and stretches all the way up OVER your belly, taking the pressure off your middle.
I’ve only just started wearing them from about 1/2 way through my pregnancy and am definitely looking forward to rocking them for the rest!
How did you get through your pregnancy in style? Any tips? Any clothes that saved you? I’d love to know! OR do you have any pregnancy-related style questions you’d like my help with? Tell me in the comments below!
Until Next Time, In Love & Style Always,
Cait you are just fabulous. Thanks for the shout out and hope your FRANKIE4’S are helping support those soles – precious cargo on board 🙂
awwwww thanks Tracy – they are doing amazing things for my soles, and my style haha xx
Cait you still look fabulous despite the amazing changes happening to your body. When buying any new pieces I would suggest thinking about if you might breast feed baby and get some items that accommodate both your bump and discreet boob access. I ended up loathing anything I wore in the last month of pregnancy and whilst feeding and couldn’t wait to get rid so make sure you have some that you adore.
Oh thanks Anj. Great tip too! Definitely something to think about x
I lived in jeanswest maternity jeans for my first pregnancy! They played a BIG role in my wardrobe last year too, though I did also go a bit nuts buying maternity dresses from asos who have an amazing range. There is also a UK brand called Tiffany Rose who have the most divine dresses, a little exxy though so I bought a few second hand off eBay 👍🏼
You are looking fab, that bump of yours will really start to poke out in the next few weeks!
How good are asos maternity dresses! Thanks for the Tiffany Rose tip too, you always looked gorgeous pregnant xx
Congrats, Caitlin, on your gorgeous growing bump and all the excitement (OK, and exhaustion 😉 ) that’s in store for you. You’re looking amazing. I have a tip – I laughed the other day reading your blog when you talked about being the sort of person who comes home and takes your bra off. I remember when my milk first came in and the midwife suggested it would be better to keep my maternity bra on (to support the enormous milk bar on my chest and avoid damaging tissue). I said, what, all the time?! And she said yes, even at night at first while things are truly enormous. I burst into tears! Disclaimer – I don’t know whether wearing your bra 24/7 is necessary or even advisable and it’s always a personal choice, but at the time I followed instructions. However – the search for the ultimate maternity bra to wear All The Time (groan) led me to Cake Lingerie. Incredible. After ho-hum experiences with readily available maternity bras I ordered some Cake online from Australia, something I would never normally do because I know how important the fit is. I reasoned I could always post them back and would only lose a few dollars. I entered my measurements into their online size calculator and ended up with three beautiful sets of lingerie that were not only the right size but also the best fitting and most supportive bras I have ever had in my life. I almost cried again at the other end of the process saying goodbye to my favourite, the Velvet Delight! So, any pregnant ladies – I recommend checking Cake Lingerie out. Their stuff is divine.
Hey Monica!
thanks so much! that’s awesome advice 🙂 I’ll definitely check out Cake!! I’m already lamenting the lose of pretty bras haha
xx
