I hope you read (and enjoyed) the last blog post in this series, highlighting NZ-made brands, I got so much amazing feedback from you all, and I’ve added a bunch of awesome brands to the list at the end (feel free to tell me more!)
So this blog, we’re focusing on brands that are DESIGNED and OWNED by amazing NZ peeps. It’s important to remember, that even if the brand isn’t made on our shores, we’re still supporting local businesses if we buy from these amazing brands. The brands I’m highlighting are the smaller boutique brands, but I also want to give a shout out to bigger NZ brands like Max, The Warehouse, and Merchant 1948 that are all also NZ owned!
I also wanted to re-assure you that every single one of the brands I’m talking about in this blog has a transparent and clear relationship with their overseas manufacturers. Most of the designers visit their factories on a regular basis and ALL are passionate about making sure their factories are working under both sustainable and ethical guidelines by world standards.
So here are some of my faves, and they probably come as no surprise haha
MINX SHOES (and C.REED CLOTHING)
These shoes are some of my FAVES ever! I love this brand, and I love their fearless leader, Cushla. Minx Shoes, and the off-shoot clothing brand, C.Reed are both made in China, and Cushla regularly visits the factories and is in constant contact with her suppliers over there.
Minx Shoes are fun, quirky and comfortable! They are very distinctly New Zealand, and the range is so extensive, there is usually something for everyone. And there is COLOUR!!
Minx Shoes work out of their HQ in Onehunga, (which is also a store front) but they also have about 120 stockists around NZ so you can get your hands on them almost anywhere!

SABEN
I’m a Sabenette from waaay back! Almost all of my bags are from this lovely NZ brand. The owner and designer, Roanne, has a unique way of interpreting trends and making them feel timeless and current all at the same time. These bags are designed for busy women who want practicality and style and won’t compromise on quality.
Saben bags are made in China and the team visit on a regular basis to maintain quality control and transparency. You can read more about their production here.

TUESDAY THE LABEL
I came across this Auckland-based label a few years ago and have been a huge fan ever since. I love the simplicity of the designs. They are feminine, but with a little bit on an edge to them (right up my alley).
The quality of fabrics is amazing, and the owner Biddie, is passionate about the sustainability of her label. In fact, they use what is called deadstock fabric to create their gorgeous garments. This means they are using up fabric that has already been made rather than producing new fabric. This also suits their business model of producing small runs as they don’t have to commit to buying 1000m of fabric that they are only going to use a tiny amount of! How bloody clever is that!
Tuesday the Label is made in China, under the watchful eye of contacts Biddie (the designer) had made over 15 years in the fashion industry.
This is definitely a label to watch! Here are their details:

LIBERTINE & TANTRUM
These two sister labels are run by the gorgeous Lissette Mayson right here in Auckland. The name might sound familiar, as Tantrum was the label that I designed my gorgeous Hummingbird Bomber Jacket for!
These two labels are all about fun, feminine styles that will stand the test of time. They are also designed with a more relaxed fit, and with breathable fabrics so comfort is always top of mind when Lisette is designing. A lot of the prints are also designed exclusively by Lissette herself too so you won’t find anything else like it.
Both brands are manufactured in China, where Lisette has the most amazing relationship with her suppliers. She is over there many times a year, touching base in the factories and overseeing production.
Make sure you check out this fun, feminine brand, they are in independent stockists around the country, all the details are here:

NOOZ CLOTHING
I couldn’t leave out this cute little label, NOOZ, one of my faves for great go-to everyday styles! NOOZ is a mixture of Susanah’s (the owner) own designs & handpicked styles that are easy to wear, flattering and most importantly make you feel great. They are bright, easy to wear and REALLY affordable!
Most of the NOOZ collection is a one-size fit (suitable for 10-18 usually( which makes buying online easy and you then style it as you like!
If affordable, easy to wear fashion is your thing, here’s where you can find them:
