I’m calling it.

Spots are the new stripes this Summer, and since we all know that stripes are a neutral, that, by default, means that spots are now too.

The fun thing about a print trend is that it works on everybody. Like every. body.

There are no fit issues to worry about, you just chose the garment in the cut that suits you in the spot you like and you’re off!

The fab thing about spots (like stripes) is that they come in all shapes and sizes, pick the spot size + colour + shape you like and the world is your oyster.

They also play nicely with most other prints, so are great for rocking a print clash if that’s your thing (I’ve got a whole blog post on print clashing here if you need a refresher). I love mixing my spot with a stripe, but they look great with florals, or animal prints, or any other print really.

Outfit notes: Max “Tayler” linen ruffle sleeve tee $49.99 | H&M skirt (in store but no longer online) | Frankie4Footwear “Nikki” heels $220.00 | Kmart circle bag $17.00

A smaller spot can be elegant and subtle, or you can have fun with big, bold spots – there really is no right or wrong way to do it.

My biggest piece of advice? Like any print – TRY IT ON! Print looks so different on the body than is does on a hanger. You might just be pleasantly surprised when you try something your normally wouldn’t.

Here are few of my faves I’m dotty over (get it. Spotty. Dotty…..)

SHOP THE SPOTS: 1. CottonOn “Rebecca” shopped shirt $29.99 | 2. CottonOn mid rise jegging $29.99 | 3. Birdsnest Handpicked by Bird Tie Waist Maxi Dress $129.95 | 4. Postie+ women’s printed ballet flats $8.00 | 5. Merchant 1948 “Sunshine” slingbacks $229.90 | 6. Zara spot playsuit $69.90 | 7. Kmart waisted high neck midi dress $22.00 | 8. Little Party Dress “Frankie” lilac polka dot dress $69.95

So have I convinced you? Do you love a polka dot, spot, circle print – whatever you want to call it? Are you dotty for spotty too?
