Spring is here yay…. what? It’s still cold and rainy outside? No! But I thought due to the number of ‘new season’ e-newletters landing in my inbox and bright colours and flimsy fabrics appearing in the store windows that Spring is here…..oh….. Spring FASHION is here. EVEN MORE YAY!!!!!
This is the best/worst time of year in my fashion calendar. Winter, and all it’s black and grey and black and black is slowing disappearing from stores (and my Pinterest feed) and being replaced with colour! And cotton-blend fabrics! (And whites and nauticals and florals…. oh my! Sorry, inside joke…..)
BUT I CAN’T WEAR ANY OF IT BECAUSE IT’S STILL AN AVERAGE OF 10 DEGREES IN AUCKLAND!!! ehm….. sorry for yelling…. this is the part of this time of year that I don’t like – it’s too cold to wear all the awesome new fashion that is hitting the stores. BUT a girl can still dream (and spend a LOT of money online shopping….wait.what?). There is so much fashion to get excited about coming into Spring so I’m just going to focus on one trend at a time (otherwise this blog post will be as long as my Spring wish list…..)
Florals and other fun prints for Spring
Here are some of the gorgeous Spring prints that I’m hoping… and wishing…. and loving….. and praying…… make it into my Spring wardrobe, plus the inspirations for them all!
My inspirations
Who doesn’t love a print – it’s everything that embodies Spring – fun, bright and fresh – it’s a fun way to wave winter goodbye! Now if you are a little unsure about wearing prints, start simple – a pair of printed pumps or ballet flats, or a printed scarf. Step it up with a printed blouse that you can still cover up with a blazer or jacket it it’s too much. For the print-advanced, make the most of the statement pants trend and rock some awesome prints that way!
Personally I have always loved a print (anyone that has worked for print Queen Sacha Drake as long as I did had no choice BUT to like prints… click here to see what I mean). Here is what is in my shopping basket to cover my need for prints…..
My potential purchases
1. Angelina butterfly print blazer from boohoo.com $60 NZD (click here to buy…. I did already)
2. Elise top by Goldie from Topshop.com approx $70 NZD (click here to buy)
3. Tilly cherry blossom cuff trousers from boohoo.com $30.00 NZD (click here to buy)
This is just the start of my shopping spree ehm… highly researched purchasing for the upcoming season. My other tips for Spring trends? Statement pants are definitely going to make an appearance (or twenty), the neon trend that we have just touched on for Winter (read about it here) will stick around and of course dresses (maxis, minis and everything in between).
What are you looking forward to wearing this Spring? Have you started thinking about your Spring wardrobe? (or is it just me…)

Love you springed excitement as well as movie music quotes! Looking forward to beating the dreary winter in Brizzzzzy too. Yay for prints – I seem to print rather than floral but like them just as much. Any online shopping sizing tips??
I’m with you, tend to favour prints over florals… unless it’s a Sacha Drake haha.
My best tip for online sizing is read any reviews there may be. Boohoo.com are exceptionally good for this… they tell you if the garment is true to size or a big or small fit…. I have found boohoo pretty true to size and I ordered pants, a dress AND a jacket.
My other tip? Check the returns policy….. most of the big online stores have local returns (which means you don’t have to pay for postage back to the States or the UK). You might just get unlucky with sizing so best to have a backup.
If in doubt, buy bigger rather than smaller though. Hope that helps my love
