This is seriously one of the most comfy trends I’ve seen for a while (anything that involves wearing comfy shoes, sign me up!). Jeans with sneakers has always been Dad’s go-to look when the fam hits Disneyland right? Well not anymore!

What I love about this trend is that you’re not quite heading into “activewear” territory, but there is definitely an element of comfort and practicality involved.

But how to we get the look right so we don’t go all “Jerry Seinfeld”? I’ve got some expert tips and tricks to get the “Sneans” look down pat.

1.Skinny jeans are a MUST and roll or cuff them

Wear something a little dressier on top

You have to go slim on this one. No “mom” jeans, I would even be careful with the boyfriend jeans, skinny all the way. Because we are wearing quite flat and chunky shoes, the aim is to make your leg look as long as possible, so the slimmer the pant, the slimmer the legs look.

THEN, make sure you roll or cuff your jeans to expose your ankle – the slimmest part of your leg (trust me, you’ll thank me later for this tip!), or wear a 7/8th jean like these are above

2. Add something a little more dressy on top

Go dressier on top

Go dressier on top to balance out the fact you’re wearing gym shoes!

If you don’t want to feel like you’ve stepped back into the 80’s with your sneans, try adding something a little more sophisticated or dressy on top. I LOVE using a blazer to do this – instant lift!

3. Choose “on-trend” trainers or sneakers.

I know I’m not normally a trend-driven gal, but in this case, I think it’s important to have the trend-element in the look. Don’t get your tennis shoes and whack them with your skinnies, look for a sleek trainer or sneaker to complete your look.

4. If you still can’t see yourself going there, start with a trainer or loafer

Start with the more classic trainer if you still can't get your head around going full-snean

What’s the difference you say? I guess I’m talking SNEAKER as something you would actually do exercise in (Nike’s etc) and a TRAINER is just  casual shoe (like a Converse, or Vans). The trainer is a more classic option with jeans, the sneaker tends to push it more into “trend”.

Great! So now you know how to rock this look, here are a few combos to start you off….
