Now to be fair, I have given you plenty of warning about my obsession slight interest in shoes. There is nothing like the feeling of slipping your foot into a gorgeous pair of heels …. a new pair of shoes can make any outfit better, they can brighten your day, they can make you walk taller and feel thinner, and no matter how many M&M’s you eat, they will still fit on your foot! …..(are you starting to understand the level of my obsession??)

However….. I have become a little lazy in this cold, dark, rainy climate (I DO love you NZ, I promise I do!) My first thought in the morning as I am getting dressed is  much more along the lines of ‘what is going to keep me the warmest today‘ rather than ‘ which pair of my fabulous shoes shall I wear today‘ and that scares me!

This also means that my awesome flat, black leather riding boots from JAG are getting more than their fair share of foot-time. They are my staple go-to shoe in this weather: they keep my feet and half my legs warm, they are big enough to fit my thick, merino socks underneath and they are comfortable (and stable) enough for me to walk to and from the bus everyday in …. but all my other shoes are starting to feel left out!

SO! I have decided to issue myself a challenge – a seven-day shoe challenge in fact! I will wear seven different pairs of shoes for the next seven days! Just to prove to myself that there is need for so many pairs of shoes.

Do you think I can do it??

Here is day one….. Suede ankle boots

CottonOn Cassie Boots – available now online and in store! RRP $49.95

These are the latest addition to my shoe-robe. The solid, low(ish) heel is great to wear all day running around (I even walk to and from the bus without issue in these… that is a feat in itself!). They work perfectly with black tights and a little dress like I’m wearing today (with about seven layers of merino underneath!) but they would also work with skinny jeans or even just under a bootleg pant.

I love how they blend almost seamlessly into my tights, you can’t really tell if they are long or short from a distance. I can see these getting a good workout this winter! (but this is the ONLY time I will wear them this week – I promise!)

Phew, day one down – that was easy!….. Now I just need to think about the next six days….. Something tells me I should start planning ahead….

Are you stuck in a same-shoe-wearing rut like me? Are you going to join me in my seven-day shoe challenge? I think you should!

Wish me luck!
