Who doesn’t love a pair of trackies right?? If you’re anything like me, as soon as you get home, bra comes off. Trackies go on. It’s my standard ‘getting home from a day out and about” ritual.
But what is floating my boat even more atm, is the Sport Luxe trend – which means that all of a sudden, there are some really cool trackies around that double up as Pants That Can Officially Be Worn Outside The Home. Boom.
Now there is definitely a “right way” and a “wrong way” to wear your trackies outside the house. I’m taking less food-stained tee + uggs and more with a cool jacket and funky trainers.
I’ve got a couple of styling ideas over on THIS BLOG from a few weeks back, and here are a few more ways that I’ve worn tracksuit-like pants out and about….
Or you could go all Tay Tay and rock the sequin tracksuit pants thanks to amazing NZ designer Juliette Hogan….
If you love them, you can get them HERE. They’ll only set you back a cool $789.
But I digress. I know most of us don’t have Taylor’s budget, so let’s look at some more affordable options for some fun and funky tracksuit pants that will easily pass as “not just at home pants” too.

My two biggest styling tips for wearing your trackies OUTSIDE the house?
- Expose your ankle – even if that means scrunching or rolling them up – this will stop you feeling frumpy
- Tuck your top in! (do what I say, not what I do ok?) again, you want to look like you at least put in a wee bit of effort when you got dressed so elongate your leg, and create some shape by at least going with a front-tuck (have a read of THIS BLOG for more info on tucking your shirt in)
So now you have some tips on how to be comfortable AND stylish – see you can do both!
Do you have any specific questions about how to style your trackies? Let me know in the comments below!

Thanks for the great post!! My question though .. roll or scrunch the pants up, but then you can’t wear socks with your trainers?? Do you find no-socks comfy or have you found the perfect socks that you can’t see but don’t actually fall down?!
I found these great socks at The Warehouse that are low, like ballet slippers with elastic around the sides that are perfect for wearing with trainers, flats & ankle boots! They pretty much just cover your toes, sides of feet & back of ankles. The don’t slip off at all!
Good one! I’ll have to check them out. I have some awesome ones from Foot Locker and a styling client today told me that she always steals her husbands from Hallensteins haha
Thanks!! Will give them a go 🙂
yeah totally what Jenna said! I get mine from Foot Locker, just their little invisible socks and they are great and stay up and are hidden beneath most trainers and even loafers!
Awesome -am going to get those too and do a comparison 🙂
I have the silent theory pants & love them! I am having trouble with the Paris pants from Betty Basics though :/ I just can’t seem to make them look good. I’ve seen them on other people & thought they looked great so I ordered them online but am only happy wearing them at home so far. I think maybe I’m too short! Any tips?
Hey Jenna – probably two things – are you pulling them up high enough? lots of that style pant is designed to be worn around the waist, not down on the hip. Also try the cuffing thing at the bottom to see if that makes them look less baggy and bunchy at the bottom?
let me know how you go!
Thanks, I’ll give that a go!
Hi would you mind sharing where the shoes are from in the middle photo (the one of you with the yellow scarf?) Thanks!
Hey G, to be honest, I can’t remember! That pic was from a little while ago and I don’t own those shoes anymore? Maybe Asos? But there are heaps around in places like Hannahs, or Rubi shoes 🙂
How do you tuck in your top of you have a fabulous mum tum? 2 gorgeous kids later 😝 Thanks 😀
Read the post I linked to Ky 😉 the whole point of tucking a top in is actually to DISGUISE your tummy!!
