Phew! After a near blog-saster (read: blog disappeared and was replaced with funny-looking code initiating TOTAL meltdown by said blog’s creator) we are back in action just in time for one of the biggest fashion days of the year! Melbourne Cup!
Now I know I’m not living in Australia anymore, but luckily I moved to a country that cares almost as much about The Cup as the Aussies! So The Boy and I are off to Ellerslie race track today to watch The Race That Stops a Nation (and parts of NZ too) and here is what we wore (yes ‘we’ – The Boy makes an appearance today):
Dress: Trelise Cooper “Icing on the Cake” dress – buy it here
Fascinator: Scarf Queen (Westfield Downtown and Dressmart Onehunga)
Clutch: Vintage clutch from my Grandma
Shoes: Payless Shoes
Lips: M.A.C “Ruby Woo” lip colour
Nails: Shellac “Cream Puff” from The Nail Studio
I gave my hair soft waves with my new Cloud Nine conical wand (see the post here on how to get curls like this)
This vintage clutch was my grandmother’s, whom I miss very much. I love carrying this little piece of her with me… She wasn’t surprised I ended up in fashion!
The big, black ring is Samatha Wills – I’ve had it for years! And my little name ring goes everywhere with me.
How amzing is the detail in this Trelise Cooper dress! All the ‘sequins’ are actually silk pieces and every bead and sequin has been stitched on. This dress will be in my wardrobe for ever and ever amen!
Even The Boy got dressed up! (although he doesn’t need much convincing) doesn’t he look smart!
So we didn’t win on any horse races, but I think we nailed it in the fashion stakes! What did YOU wear to Melbourne Cup this year? I’d love to know! Tell me in the comments below, or even better – post a pic to my FACEBOOK PAGE!
Until next excuse to dress up,
style & love always,
Cait xoxo

You looked great Cait!! The red lipstick looks fab!
Thanks Brigitte 🙂 It was fun wearing red lipstick! Not normally my thing but I think I will try it more often now
