As much as I love a cheap and cheerful purchase, I’m got a soft spot for Australian Designers and the amazing pieces they create. If you are regular reader to the blog, you will know how much I LOVE Queensland designer Sacha Drake, but there is another label that has been making more and more appearances on my fashion radar of late – ladies and ladies, may I introduce GORMAN (actually, after buying my first Gorman dress last summer, I was inspired to write this post, so have been a fan for a while now.)
So thanks to all the amazing emails I am sent from Gorman HQ after signing up for their newsletter, I came across this dress…… and couldn’t stop thinking about it…… cute hey!
Then, one lucky day I saw that is was HALF PRICE!!! I ran (no seriously, there was running involved – mostly because I almost missed the bus, but you know….) into store to try it on – love at first site!
When I went to pay for it, the gorgeous girls behind the counter said how lucky I was that no one else in Auckland liked this dress so that’s what it was half price….. when I informed them I was originally from Queensland and a bit of colour and print doesn’t scare me they said, “oh! That makes sense then” ……..
Anyway, the point of this story is – when you see something that really represents YOUR OWN PERSONAL STYLE, just wear it! Who cares if nobody else in your city, age group, circle of friends or workplace would wear it, if you love it – buy it!
So here is how I wore it out to lunch on the gorgeous sunny Auckland day we had yesterday….
Dress – Gorman pink melon dress AUS $329
Shoes – Euro brands on High St Auckland $40
Watch – Marc Jacobs from Shopbop
Necklace – Equip Jewellery
I went for the FULL watermelon effect by adding the green shoes haha. I love the versatility in the dress – the gorgeous silk has a subtle shimmer to it which makes it a great party dress with some heels or wedges like I have done, but I can also see myself wearing this casually on the weekend with some cute little sandals and a straw fedora – at least two looks for the price of one – loves it – this dress just makes me feel like summer!
What makes you feel like summer? Are you loving the fruity prints out at the moment? Tell me in the comments below, I’d love to hear!
Love and Style Always

Are people mad! What is not to like about a colourful summer dress. Bring it on I say.
Totally with you Andrea 🙂 People feel safe in black, but bring on the colour I say too!
For once I’m happy that we don’t live in the same city as I am definitely buying that dress too! I’ve been waiting for it to go on sale in Melbourne but it’s only gone down to 30% so far -(
It looks gorgeous on you Cait! Love that you paired it with blue shoes too.
oh thanks doll! you would look amazing in it too! Go get one now! Totally worth it 🙂 xx
