I probably should have named this post “How to make your legs look longer in one easy step” because that’s exactly what this wee tip will do really.

Dressing well for your shape is all about getting the proportions right, and this is one of the easiest tricks in the book to make anyones legs look longer (plus as an added bonus, it also helps define your waist, making that look smaller too)

So how do you do it? Simple – just tuck in your shirt!

Long vs longer legs

Buy giving the illusion that your legs are longer (by exposing more of them) you are making your whole body appear slimmer. A looser blouse will still give you some tummy protection (if that is an area you’re not a huge fan of). You can do it with a more fitted tee too – just don’t blouse it so much…..

I've tucked this tee into a low-rise jean and a high waisted skirt so there is not waist height that you can't tuck into!

With skirts

Ever wondered how to wear those gorgeous full skirts but don’t want to wear a really fitted top? That’s ok! Tuck in your tee or blouse to define your waist, and once again, add length in your legs, like so….

Don’t want to expose your bum in tight pants? try the HALF TUCK – that’s where you just tuck the front part of your top into the waist of your pants. It lengthens your leg from the front, but scoops down to cover your bum at the back – best of both worlds!

HOW to do it.

I know that might sound like a simple thing, but it can be tricky to get the tuck right.

If your pants or skirt are high-waisted (like my two skirts above) then start by tucking it all the way in, then pulling your top out a little to “blouse” it over the waist band a little. Your top doesn’t have to be tight, in fact, if it’s a little baggy, the blousing will work better!

Wearing lower rise jeans or pants? Just try the half tuck at the front – you won’t be so exposed, but your legs will still look longer.

Still not convinced?

Maybe try a top that TIES in the front (and still gives you some tummy coverage). It will still create the same effect (making your legs look longer!) but you might not feel so exposed, like so….

Tucking in your shirt really simple trick but it can completely change your look! I find it REALLY helps elongate your legs when you’re wearing flat shoes and jeans. Heels naturally elongate your legs anyway, so if you are rocking a flattie, try at least the half tuck and see how it changes your look!

Are you a shirt-tuck girl already? Or is it something you hadn’t thought to try? Give it a go and let me know how you go! I’d love to hear
