I’m done.
I thought Winter was over, but I was wrong (as I sit here in uggs, next to the heater, with a hoodie on – sure, I’m a fashion blogger haha!).
I REALLY want it to start getting warm now. So I’ve decided I’m going to fake it, until I make it warm. (Technically I was “sun-baking” on my deck this morning, just in above mentioned uggs and hoodie to keep warm)
There is plenty of Spring/Summer fashion and beauty hitting the stores already so there is definitely plenty of things to give you some Summer inspiration.
Or maybe you’re heading away shortly to a tropical island somewhere for the September school holidays so you actually might get the chance to get your Summer Glow on early (jealous much?!)
Either way, I’ve got a couple of really easy tips to help you get your Summer Glow on (even if the weather didn’t get the memo yet)
Stop wearing black
This is the number one, easiest way to get away from that Winter feeling and get your Spring/Summer vibe on – stop wearing black!
I went for a walk with my sis-in-law this morning and I even bypassed the black leggings for some of a more colourful variety, just cause I am so sick of wearing black.
Find another colour to start wearing. It’s time.
Get those legs out
It’s time to release those legs baby! You can still wear boots, but maybe back away from the tights, grab that razor from the bottom draw and whack a little fake tan on. You’ll feel like you’re on holidays!
Here’s some outfit inspo for boots and (shudder) bare legs…

Change up your makeup
Nothing says summer like bronzed skin, but you have to be careful not to head too gun-ho into it. A subtle sweep of powder here (the Estée Lauder one below is on counters now), and a swipe of bronze eye shadow there (I’m OB.SESSED with the Bobbi Brown one below), stop with the dark nails and go light again and you’re giving your look a subtle nod to Summer.
GET THE LOOKS:1. EcoTan invisible tan from shelivescrueltyfree.com $39.55 | 2. Estée Lauder Bronze Goddess Bronzing Powder $76 | 3. OPI “Don’t Bossa Nova Me Around” $19.95 | 4. Bobbi Brown Telluride eye palette $135
Go swimwear shopping
Terrifying at the best of times I know, but this will kill two birds with one stone. A) get the horrid thing out of the way early, and b) get you excited about summer because you already have a wicked new pair of togs!
The trick to swimwear shopping is simply this – pic a pair you feel good in, that you like the print or pattern of, that are comfortable and then DON’T WORRY ABOUT IT ANY MORE! Everybody else on the beach is too worried about how they look in their swimwear to be checking you out – so relax.
Here are just a few of my faves coming out now!
SHOP THE SUITS (l-r): Queensland Swimwear Company tummy control one piece $149.95 (aus) | Asos DD-G cup chain detail bikini top $43.86 and bottom $12.06 | Next bikini top $23.50 + high waisted bottom $23.50 from EziBuy
I’m so looking forward to the Summer! Not only can I hit the beach, wear my be-loved maxi dresses, but I got married in Summer so I have my anniversary to look forward too as well!

How GOOD is daylight savings! Pizza at your house 🙂
I’m looking forward the warmer weather and being able to get the washing dry, without having to run outside and trying to rescue it from the rain. And, there will be less washing as everyone will be wearing fewer layers and not such heavy clothing. Seems like my life revolves around the washing at the moment!
I’m also looking forward to daylight saving and the longer evenings which are perfect for going for a relaxing walk after dinner. My favourite time of the year.
OMG story of my life with the washing haha! Daylight savings is my fave time of year too 🙂
I can’t wait for some warm weather so I can ditch the layers and wear light, loose pretty things again. Also looking forward to BBQs and swimming all day at the beach!
So with you on the ditching of the layers Katrina!
Im looking forward to lots of summer camping and sailing on our little yacht! We have a section up north that we csmp on, the kids love it, we have campfires and toast marshmallows every night, explore all the beaches, go for the best gelato, markets etc. We go for at least a month from boxing day and on and off for weekends from about November on. Cant wait to get back into it!
That sounds like the perfect Summer Amy! I’m coming to visit haha!
I’m looking forward to summer days, good moods with all that extra Vitamin D and looking forward to finding some shade for a change 🙂

I am looking forward to the long warm nights so I can enjoy the outdoors a little longer and go for walks to the park with my little girl after dinner.
oooooh the long warm nights are my favourite too!
I’m looking forward to mornings where you don’t mind getting out of your warm bed and sitting outside in the morning sun to eat breakfast can involve bare feet and no polar fleece.
haha down with the polar fleece!
I cant wait to go swimming, kayaking and paddleboarding at the lake. Bushwalks and bike rides around the lake and picnic lunches on the lake shore. 🙂
How much fun is paddle-boarding! Can’t wait!
Dresses and bare legs! Jandals & sandals, BBQs, beach, warmth & sunshine & pineapples! 😀
oh i know! Bring on the bare legs!
I’m looking forward to Christmas holidays so we can take our sons away for a decent break and have lots of fun in the sun. The best thing about summer for me this year is going to be no more snotty noses and winter bugs! This has been the worst winter yet!
hahaha yes no more snotty noses!
I’m soo looking forward to sitting on the deck in the evening watching the kids
Play under the sprinkler, the smell of fresh cut grass and playing tennis till it’s dark!
The smell of fresh cut grass is my husband’s fave too (until it gives him hayfever haha!) x
I’m looking forward to long summer nights with the sun shining till well after dinner.
BBQ’s with good friends and plenty of laughs.
thats my fave thing to do as well!
I can’t wait for hot days, longer sunshine hours and not having to rush and home and turn on the heat pump to get warm!
me too Nicky!
I’m looking forward to not having freezing cold feet and hands again! I have really bad circulation and my hands and feet are always cold in winter, even with ugg boots on! I’m also looking forward to long days where I can go for a walk in the evening and not having to close the curtains at 5pm!
Sounds like summer can’t come soon enough haha!
