As some of you probably know, I’m expecting Bebe Taylor #3 early next year (thanks lockdown haha) and as this isn’t my first rodeo, I’ve got a pretty good idea of the things that I can still use to elevate my style everyday.
For anyone who’s been through any sort of body transformation, you can feel like you are constantly playing catchup with your changing shape right?
Last week, my old jeans fit, and my usual tops were still long enough. This week? Different story!
BUT, if you’ve followed along with my previously pregnancies, you’ll also know that I try not to invest in too much ‘maternity-specific’ fashion. I think there are SO many options out there now that can be worn before, during and after pregnancy, giving you much more bang for buck.
So this list is for not only those who are expecting, but also those who just just cool, versatile pieces in their wardrobe (ok, except maybe the maternity bra haha).
FRANKiE4 Footwear SANDY sandals.
If you’re a regular reader of the blog, you know I’m SUCH a fan of this amazing Aussie shoe brand so how could I not include a pair in this post.
Three main things I love about these slides;
1. They SLIDE on. No bending over as your tummy starts to get in the way.
2. They are adjustable across the top. Pregnancy does all sorts of things to you feet, plus I just happen to have really narrow foot so I like that the width of the strap can be adjusted to suit.
3. The inbuilt support in the footbed. SO many slides for summer don’t offer the support of a closed shoe, but these have the FRANKiE4 Footwear custom foot bed to give excellent support and comfort.
Creed (Minx Shoes) Waterfall Dress.
Not only is there heaps of room for growing belly (or just general air flow in summer), the shoulder ties will make breastfeeding in summer a cinch! This dress does it all for maternity and beyond for me (plus did I mention it has pockets).
This dress is the perfect example of a piece that can be worn by almost anyone (pregnant or not) and will be great to dress up for summer parties and dress down for those trips out for ice-cream with the kids. I love it so much I ordered it in two colours haha
There are four gorgeous colourways, bright pink, orange, navy blue and pink + orange together, and will fit anyone from a size 8 (Cushla who is wearing it in the pic is a petite size 8) to an 18 and is available from late Oct / early Nov.
Rose & Thorne “no leaks” maternity / feeding bra
Ok, so this is the ONE maternity-specific piece in this blog, but I couldn’t leave it out! And the good news is, even if you aren’t expecting, Rose & Thorne is DEFINITELY worth checking out for beautiful, affordable bras MADE for kiwi women.
If you need some help with fit, you can either head down to their HQ in Drury (just south of Auckland) or jump online and have a virtual fitting with Bra Guru (and head designer) Sue. She’s talk you through how to get the best fitting bra of your life, and recommend some styles that will work for you. Cannot recommend this label enough, practically ALL of my bras are Rose & Thorne now!
Harrïe & Sam Thrasher styles
Have you Harrïe & Sam? The innovative Kiwi brand that works on a fortnightly pre-order system to avoid creating too much excess. They offer simple, beautiful styles that you can style the way you want to suit your personal style.
One of their staple styles is called the Thrasher (literally because you can thrash it over and over again). It comes in a top or dress with different sleeve lengths depending on the season.
I own several of these pieces (both tops and dresses) but I particularly love the top if you do have a growing baby bump. Unlike mane of your other tops, this one will not creep up and expose the bottom of your tummy any time soon haha! The length in it allows for the extra room your belly needs. (depending on how far along you are, you might need to size up as the poly chiffon don’t have any give in it)
And if you’re not expecting, you can tuck it, tie it or wear it loose to your hearts content. Seriously one of the most versatile pieces I own!
BioJuice Hydrating Skin Drink from Face Stuff Co.
Not only do I follow Renee from Face Stuff Co on insta for her classic yarns, she is also really good at sourcing and recommending amazing skincare for busy mummas!
The older I get, the more I’m realising how my hydration my skin needs (double that with pregnancy). So when Renee starting raving about this BioJuice hydrating serum, I was totally there for it! Hydrated skin means the need to less makeup, less premature ageing and smoother coverage when i am wearing makeup
I’ve been using it for about 2 weeks now and I can genuinely say I have noticed the difference. I use it morning (before makeup routine) and night (after washing makeup off and before moisturiser). You only need the smallest amount so I can tell this bottle is going to laaaaaaast!
Saben “Porter” carryall tote bag.
Just give me a bag I can throw ‘all of the things in”. Onto bebe #3 and I realise I don’t actually need/want a traditional baby bag. This gorgeous leather is every busy mumma’s dream. If you like things super-organized, you can also add one of the epic Saben inserts to keep everything in its place.
This bag fits everything from nappies, to lunchboxes to a laptop and makeup bag. It’s made with the same amazing quality as ALL Saben bags are and is definitely something worth investing in, you’ll have it for years, well past when you need it as a baby bag.
You guys know that you don’t have to choose between comfort and style, and I believe the same idea applies in pregnancy. Sure, comfort is arguable MORE important, but you don’t have to sacrifice your style either. I hope this gives you some inspiration to elevate your everyday style, bump or not.
Until Next Time, In Love & Style Always,
