Who doesn’t love a dress?
So easy to wear – you only have to think about one thing, none of this “do I tuck the top in? Are the pants the right cut for this blouse” nonsense. Put the dress on and done!
What I also love about dresses is the ability to dress them up and down.
Now as you may know, versatility in clothing is something that I bang on about ALL. THE. TIME. It’s kinda my thing right? And with the right accessories, there is nothing more versatile than a dress.
I want to show you how easy it is to wear the same dress to pretty much any occasion, so when I found this beauty from Big W on a recent trip back to Aus, it seemed like the perfect candidate! (I’ve also got a whole bunch of other Autumn dress options below for those of you that can’t get your hands on this little number).
PRETTY IN PINK
To the office, or out to dinner, this dress is stretchy and comfortable to wear, but the cut makes it seem oh so glamourous.
There is black in the print, but rather than just adding the usual black accessories, why not lighten up the whole look with some nude pieces. It gives it a more feminine spin don’t you think?

WEEKEND COOL
Standard weekend uniform for me really. A denim jacket and trainers is SUCH a simple way to dress down a dress you wouldn’t think is uber-casual. It just makes your existing wardrobe SO MUCH BIGGER if you can team dressier pieces with your more casual ones.
OUTFIT NOTES: Big W dress $29 AUD | Just Jeans denim jacket $89.95 | Converse trainers $100 from The Iconic^
WINTER IS COMING
I always find it easier to wear dresses in Winter than pants for some reason. Maybe the tights element helps, the fleece-lined ones are warmer than most pants!
So with this Big W dress, I’ve basically created my Standard Winter Look using a leather jacket, opaque tights and ankle boots.
OUTFIT NOTES: Samvara leather jacket (similar here^) | Forever New necklace (similar here) | Big W dress | Decjuba tights $29.95^ | Alias Mae ankle boots $219.95 (similar here)
So if you can’t get your hands on this particular dress from Big W, I’ve got a few other options that will all work being styled the same three ways for you:
SHOP THE FROCKS: French Connection shirt dress $159.90 | Birdsnest “birdkeepers” dress $89.95 AUD | H&M plum dress $24.99 | Home-Lee dress from Cait & Co $89.95 (use code CARTFREESHIP for free shipping on this dress too!)
It really is easy to get SO much use out of the items in your wardrobe. With just a few key pieces, you can take almost anything from weekend to glam quite quickly! Don’t you think?
Is there an item you’d love to see feature in my 1 item, 3 ways series? Let me know in the comments below and I”ll do my best to accommodate!

Great article 🙂 how does the Big W dress fit in terms of sizing?
Hey Liesje, I’m wearing the L and I’m a size 12. I could fit the M, but I liked the fit of the L better
