Gosh I love doing this long-running series on the blog for you guys! Not only does it show you how to get the most out of cool pieces, but I get to let the creative juices flow to think of all the different uses for the item that I’m talking about! Win / Win!
So this time, I wanted to show you a gorgeous dress, sen to me by the lovely team at Adrift, a Brisbane label making casual style that one little bit easier! Here’s the dress on the model from the Adrift website, and why I love it…..
SHOP THE FROCK: AARNA Dress in navy check $166^
Best Bits:
- tie waist – allows you to adjust the fit to suit your frame
- cotton/viscose blend, so great to layer now, but will give you sleeved option that is still cool in winter
- available up to a size 22
- pockets – need I say more?
And here are just three of the different ways you could wear it, using similar pieces in your wardrobe…..
WORK IT BABY
Always looking for summer work dresses with a bit of a sleeve? This is the perfect piece then! button it through, use a necklace or a jacket to create some shape over your bust, and add a heel.
I’M WEARING: Adrift AARNA Dress in navy check $166^ + Saben “Dash” bag in Pacific $420 + Alias Mae boots (old season) + Forever New necklace (old season)
Sizing note: I’m a standard 12 with a bigger bust and I’m wearing a M/L
COOL AND CASUAL
This is the perfect weekend frock for when you’ve done with the jeans. You can add a cami underneath, or a jacket over the top in this cooler weather (hello Spring??). But it’s also a great frock to throw on as the seasons warm up!
Work it back with wedges, or sandals for a comfortable and stylish dress to wear all weekend! I also love the slightly longer length, it means I can still hang out with the tiny human on the floor, or the ground and not worry about showing my knickers to the world haha
I’M WEARING: Adrfit AARNA Dress in navy check $166^ + Shopbop bag (old season) + Trenery wedges (old season)
AS A JACKET
I think this is my favourite look. I love when you can change the functionality of a garment into something completely different!
Because it’s a full button-through dress, you can just undo all of the buttons and wear it duster/kimono style! If you’re going to rock it this way, make sure that whatever you’ve got going on underneath (be it dress or pants) is slim-fitting. If you have anything else too baggy, you risk the whole “is it a jacket, or is it her dressing gown” kinda look – know what I mean?
I’M WEARING: Adrift AARNA Dress in navy check $166^ + Birdsnest”Walking on Clouds” tee $59.95 (gifted) + Bohemian Traders distressed skinny jeans $154^ + Joanne Mercer boots (old season)
This dress is certainly one of those pieces that you might walk past if you saw it hanging on a rack, because you might not see how it can translate on a body, but once you’ve got it on, you’ll never want to take it off!!
It would be such a great piece to travel with, for work or pleasure and has a classic look that will never go out of style!
So which is your favourite way to wear it? Tell me in the comments below!
