Yay! My first style post of the year. Man it feels good to be back!
And what better way to kick the year off with a 1 item, 3 ways post. I love doing these posts because a) they make me work my styling brain, and b) more importantly, it shows YOU, my lovely reader, the versatility that different items can have in your wardrobe.
So let’s start with a pair of culottes. And no, the 80s didn’t call for their pants back. Trust me on this one! This style of pants is the perfect summer pair!
They give you great shape through the waist, but are loose and floaty over the legs, plus, they highlight the ankle, which is the slimmest part on any leg – boom!
I bought a gorgeous printed pair from Veronika Maine late last year that I’ve used in the post – they are no longer on the website, but are still in store! I’ve also included 3 pairs that you CAN get your hands on online at the end of the post.
So let’s get into it!
WAY ONE: Everyday Style
CULOTTES + PLAIN TEE + STATEMENT NECKLACE + FLATS
This is actually one of my most favourite outfits I’ve worn in a while. I felt so good in it!
One of the tricks to rocking culottes it to tuck your top in (yes, its flattering, no it won’t accentuate your tummy!) which is what I’ve done with this great tee from The Cait & Co Store.
Add flats, a statement necklace and you’re good to go!
A note on flats and culottes – DO IT. Even if you are short. Just do it. It will work, I promise.
WAY TWO: OUT ON THE TOWN
CULOTTES + FANCY BLACK TOP + BLACK HEELS + WHITE STATEMENT NECKLACE
I wore this look to a wedding in Melbourne recently. I felt like such a rebel wearing pants, but I LOVED it!
Heels obviously work with a more dressed-up look but remember, if you are wearing printed pants, make them the statement and choose pieces that compliment, but don’t fight with, the print.
WAY THREE: WORK IT!
CULOTTES + BLOUSE + BLAZER + WORK PUMP + BAG
Who says just because you have to wear corporate clothes you can’t have fun with fashion either? Culottes are the perfect work pant! Not too tight, not too hot, but comfortable and elegant.
You can pretty much add a blazer to anything and it looks appropriate for work through right? haha!
So now that I’ve shown you just a few ways to wear these fun pants, here are a few pairs you can get your hands on with the simple click of a button!
SHOP THE LOOK: Pleated culottes from The Iconic $99.95 | Next culotte jumpsuit from EziBuy $62 | Boohoo.com wide leg culottes in mauve $25
So there you have just three, of the many many ways to wear these fun summer pants!
If you love this series, make sure you check out some of the other 1 item, 3 ways posts featuring THE JERSEY MAXI DRESS, or THE BLACK JUMPSUIT or THE BASIC TEE.
Is there a particular item you’d like to see me feature in this series? Make sure you tell me in the comments below so I can on the case!
Love your 1 item, 3 ways posts. Quick question: is 5ft 3″ too short to wear culottes?
Not at all Tracey 🙂 there are lots of different lengths so just look for ones that finish at your ankles (and no, that won’t make you look shorter)
