Jumpsuits are one of my favourite things. I kid you not!

It’s like a dress. But pants. But a dress! What more could you ask for in the fashion stakes right?

But I know a whole bunch of you are scared of  jumpsuit! But I promise they aren’t as scary as you think.

Want the secret to wearing a jumpsuit?

Put one on.

The end.

What’s the worst thing thats going to happen? It might not fit, and thats ok. Try another one. And as always, if its not your thing? That’s totally cool too.

Ok. So I’ve convinced you to at least try one on. But how do you choose? Here are a few of my expert tips that I use with my styling clients to pick the perfect jumpsuit.

Start with black

I’m not usually a big fan of black, but if you’re trying a new silhouette, often it can feel like that safe choice  – so in this case I’m ok with that.

A colour or a print might feel a little OTT, so a plain dark colour is a good starting point. Here are 10 to start you off….

Fitted body, wide pants

This is the usual fit of a jumpsuit, and it’s also the most flattering on most bodies.

If you’re more on the petite side (or vertically challenged), try a cropped, culotte style leg, this style has less risk of swamping you with too much fabric.

Play with size

Don’t get caught up on size. I pretty much ALWAYS size up in a jumpsuit. It’s a combination of being almost 6ft tall, and having bigger-than-average boobies.

I want the extra room and if it’s a little loose around the waist, then I ain’t complaining either.

Remember, the size on your clothes is just a number, so don’t get caught up on it. The FIT of the garment is much more important – people can actually see that, they can’t see the size on the inside of your clothes.

And before you ask, yes! ANY body, any size or shape can wear a jumpsuit. As with most things, it’s just a matter of finding the one that works for your gorgeous body.
