Sometimes I think my blog should be called “Diary of a Shoe Addict” because I just LOOOOOOOOOVE shoes! It’s true. I takes a LOT of fingers and toes to count how many pairs of shoes I own. In fact, let’s not, The Boy might have a heart attack.

But one thing that I’m very proud of if that I’m an all-opportunity shoe addict. I am definitely NOT a shoe snob! I love me some cheap and cheerful shoes, but I also realise the quality and design that you get in a luxury shoe.

So today we are going to look a three shoes I think you should look at investing in, and then next week, we’ll look at three pairs that you can probably grab for a steal.

SPLURGE

So what classes as “expensive” really does differ for everyone. Some people wouldn’t balk at spending $300 on a pair of shoes, for others that is a concept they have never considered. So I’m going to consider $300 the mark for the “splurge” category just to start somewhere.

Two of these three shoes live in my wardrobe so I can personally vouch for them. The other is right up the top of my ‘wish list’ and is THE shoe all the celebs are wearing on the red carpet (not that that should be a deciding factor, but it helps right!)

The luxury Ankle Boot

beau coops scand

Beau Coops – “scand” boots $346 (NZ) These are sort of a cult boot here in NZ. They are classic, yet have an edge to them. They are BEAUTIFULLY made from leather and pony skin in Italy and is the ankle boot equivalent of the black heel in winter.

These are my go-to boots for any occasion that doesn’t require me to run long distances (because that happens often…..) Ok, so I’m probably not going to wear them to the shopping mall with a client but sit-down meetings, dinners etc they are perfect!

The luxury black heels

Francia Uys shoes

Francis Uys “dark knights’ heels $389 (NZ). A classic black heel is definitely something worth spending your money on. The right style and shape will never date, and will work with everything from jeans to a ball gown.

Because of my “bower bird” habit of collecting everything fancy and bright, I had a severe lack of black shoes in my wardrobe, these have definitely done the job! Designed right here in NZ, and made in Portugal with the highest quality materials, your knees will stop working before these shoes let you down.

The luxury ‘barely there’ Nude Heel

stuart weitzman shoesStuart Weitzman nude sandals $496 (NZ). These are my ultimate dress shoe. These “barely there” heeled sandals are the fave of celebs on the red carpet in any colour but the nude covers all bases I think. Simple, classy and not too fussy at all, these gorgeous heels will work with any outfit you can think of that requires a heel.

This is THE summer of weddings for me (including my own) so if I can just sneak these onto my Christmas list then I can see them being very useful for all the parties and events over the summer

The trick when looking at spending a little more money than usual on your shoes, is to look for shoes that you will get the MOST wear out of! Two black shoes and a nude shoe will work into your wardrobe seamlessly and will go with most things. It’s all down to cost-per-wear remember and a classic, well-made, well-designed shoe is going to give that to you!

Are you are shoe-splurger? Or do you just go for the cheap and cheerful option all the time? Tell me what you think in the comments below
