Did you feel it?
I think we felt it here yesterday in New Zealand. I know that you guys in Aussie have been feeling it for a little while now. But I think it’s safe to say that SPRING is well and truly on its way!
This excites my life in a way that I don’t think I can explain. I almost cried into my coffee the other morning PURELY because I didn’t want it to be cold anymore.
And then it happened. That subtle change in the air when you know it’s coming, Soon. Like so soon you start to think about all the awesome things you can wear in Spring that don’t require a) merino b) tights and c) a coat.
So to celebrate the pending start of Spring (saying that, this is Auckland, so I could be jumping the gun here and it all goes to s*#t again tomorrow) I’ve got your Spring wardrobe sorted with three things that will make your Spring Wardrobe awesome!
Here they are.
Chambray
I think sometimes, if you were born before 1985, this fabric can remind you too much of the 1990’s – but I’m going to back it anyway. (And yes, I was born before 1985 so I lived it first hand).
Chambray has such a lovely fresh look and feel to it – it makes you think of holidays, and a tan (and pina coladas) instantly.
But chambray is actually a really useful fabric – it’s light, (lighter than denim), it’s wears quite well (the right kid of chambray, think really soft and drapey, won’t crush) and it’s machine washable (BIG tick!)
It looks great back with white, navy, grey, and pretty much any other colour. And because the FABRIC is the trend, you choose the style to suit you.
Here are a few of my picks.
SHOP THE CHAMBRAY: 1) CottonOn drapey pants $29.95 | 2) Portmans shirt dress $99.95 | 3) Assembly shorts from The Iconic $69.95
Espadrilles
I hope The Husband isn’t reading this, but I saw a news article online (in the style section of course) about Soludos, a brand of espadrilles that have made their mark world-wide. I have seen them around for a while, but after reading this article, I decided that I needed some. And immediately clicked on the link conveniently placed at the bottom of the article and bought these.
SHOP THE SHOES: Soludos espadrilles from The Iconic $58 (aus)
I think they will actually be the perfect Spring shoe. I can see them with jeans, or with a little sun dress, or a midi-skirt (definitely a hem length for Spring). In fact, I think they’ll go with most everyday outfits.
Check these other options out too..
SHOP THE SHOES: 1) Witchery “Gracie” flat $99.90 | 2) French Connection slip on $99.95 | 3) Seed Heritage “Emma” canvas espadrille $49.95
The Stripe Dress
Who DOESN’T love a stripe dress – you know I do! But there seems to be more of them about this Spring. I think it’s to so with the gorgeous 70’s / greek islands / holiday vibe that is really coming through in a bunch of the stores for the season.
It’s the perfect “Spring Uniform”. If it’s still a little chilly where you are now, team it back with tights, ankle boots and a denim or leather jacket, and then as it warms up, start to take the layers off a wear it with the above mentioned espadrilles, sandals or even just your haviana thongs (jandals) down to the park or beach!
You could even wear the right style (like the one below on the right) to work with a blazer and pumps.
Here are just three (out of about a gazillion) styles that I’m loving right now.
SHOP THE STRIPES: 1) Seed Heritage stripe tier dress $69.95 | 2) Bohemian Traders oversized stripe dress $140 | 3) C&M dress from The Iconic $139
So there you have a fabric, a shoe and a dress that will take you through Spring and into Summer.
I love all these options because they each allow you to still let your personal style shine through – chose the shape, cut and fabric that suits what you want and banish the black for good (well for the next 6-9 months anyway!
Can you see yourself rocking any of these styles for Spring? Which is your pick – tell me in the comments below, I’d love to know
My favourite is the Seed Heritage stripe tier dress.
How gorgeous is it!
I love that C&M dress Cait, thank you 🙂
it’s a good one isn’t it Jenna! xx
