I don’t know about you, but we’ve been having ACTUAL perfect weather here in Auckland (and now I’ve gone and jinxed it haha!).
I call it “Goldilocks weather” – It’s not too hot, it’s not too cold, it’s just right.
I love it because you can pretty much wear most of your wardrobe in this weather! And it’s prime light layering time.
These lightweight jackets are the perfect way to add a little something to pretty much any outfit, I found two cool ones from Postie+ recently (kindly gifted to me), and I’ve got 5 more that I think you’ll love too!
SHOP THE LOOK: Burgundy lightweight trench coat from Postie+ in stores (not online) | Birdsnest high low midi dress $89.95 {both kindly gifted}.
SHOP THE LOOK: Postie+ “Amelia” bomber jacket $79.00 | Birdsnest high low midi dress $89.95 | The Gem Within “Roxy” necklace $43 {all kindly gifted}
I’ve layered both these jackets over a dress, but they would work just as well with pants.
The main feature of these lighter weight jackets that makes them perfect for Autumn is that they are not lined. They just give enough coverage and warmth to take the chill off when needed.
They can work into winter too, just layer them over knits and merino if you don’t want to add extra bulk with a big coat.
Here are five more fabulous lightweight coats you can get your hands on right now to add to you Autumn wardrobe….
SHOP THE JACKETS: Decjuba Basics denim jacket $139.95^ | Kilt “Delilah” jacket in pop flower $149.00 | H&M blush satin bomber $69.99 | Max drape front trench in graphine $149.99^ | Esprit cropped jacquard jacket $139.95
The moral of the story? Have a bit of fun with layering at this time of year, make the most of the weather! (before we know it, we will be wearing tights and heavy coats!)
A lightweight jacket is one of the most useful and versatile pieces you can have in your wardrobe, so if you don’t have one or two, make sure you add it to your Autumn shopping list!
What do you think about the lightweight jackets in stores at the moment? Which is your favourite from the selection above? Tell me in the comments below, I’d love to know! And if you have any questions about how to style a particular one, let me know, that’s what I’m here for!

Hi, if you don’t mind me asking, what size are you wearing the stripe dress in? Does it run big? Reviews on the website differ.
Thanks
Hey Amy, I’m wearing the 12 and I like the fit of it. I don’t want it SUPER tight, and I have curves, so I would say stick to your normal size 🙂
Its a REALLY nice dress, highly recommend!
Great thanks Cait. I’m usually a 12, thanks for the tip. Love your blog 😊
pleasure! I think you’ll be safe with the 12 too 🙂
