Hello Autumn! Or if you’re a summer-lover like me, it’s more like, “oh fine, hello Autumn, I suppose I’ll deal with you.” haha!

I can’t stop it happening, so I may as well start to think about Autumn fashion, and more importantly, how to transition summer style into Autumnal style.

Light layering is a great place to start. Take a fairly summer-ish outfit, and add a few Autumn-ish layers. That way you’re not completely jumping seasons, more like easing your way across.

Take this outfit below – a tee + midi skirt + heeled sandals – perfect for summer weather…

And simply add a leather jacket and ankle boots to take the same basic outfit into Autumn.

Decjuba faux suede jacket (old season) | Ziera “Harper” boots in mid grey $299.95 {kindly gifted}

So with that in mind, I wanted to give you a few Autumn/Winter essentials that will help you transition your wardrobe into the new season.

Here are a few of my faves….

Decjuba “Liv” collarless leather jacket $545.90
A leather jacket is always a great Autumn classic. Not as heavy as a coat, but provides wind and rain protection. Plus these slightly cropped styles look great over dresses.

Witchery “Edina” tuban $21.90
Not quite a hat or beanie, but something to add interest (and a little bit or warmth too), a headscarf is one of the most prevalent hair-accessory trends of this Autumn/Winter season.

Saben “Odile” bag in cocoa python $359
Nothing heralds the start of a new season like a new handbag. This beauty is carrying on with the animal print trend that we’ve seen come through from summer. Plus the cross-body style helps add a layer in itself to any look.

Frankie4 Footwear “Ruth” boot in gold $299.95 (AUD)*
Who said ankle boots have to be black? This gorgeous lighter shade will work well with bare legs as you transition your summer dresses, but it also suits a light to mid denim as it cools down.

Sacha Drake classic trench from Birdsnest.com $329.00 (AUD)
A trench is the epitome of a light layer. Add it to a simple jeans and tee outfit, or layer it over a dress and some light coloured boots (like the Frankie4 ones) for the perfect Autumn look.

These are all great pieces you can look at adding to your wardrobe now, to help take it from summer to autumn and beyond.

Just add one of two of these pieces as the temperature drops and you’ll be in full Autumn style in no time.
