The moment I saw this dress from Queensland label Surafina, I LOVED it. So I bought it, But then when I photographed it on me, I have to admit, I wondered what you would say – it could have gone either way.
It does all the things you’re “not supposed to do” if you’re my shape (don’t wear a high neckline, don’t wear things that don’t show off your waist, don’t wear things that finish on your calf, blah, blah, blah!). But what fun are the rules if you can’t break them every now and then!
Here’s the dress:

Why do I love it?
In one word, VERSATILITY (it’s my favourite word when it comes to clothes! Actually, that’s a lie. SALE is my favourite, but you know). I immediately pictured myself wearing this dress on the weekend, with a straw fedora and some bright coloured sandals. But then, with heels and a big necklace out at night, and then shopping with clients paired with ankle boots and a scarf.
And the best bit about it?? Normal undies! TMI? sorry, but if I don’t have to find the ‘right’ pair of undies to wear under something I’m sold -no VPL (visible pantie line) here!
So what are you waiting for! Get yourself one (just don’t wear it at the same time as me ok?!
I think sometimes the way a garment hangs or moves when you wear it makes a huge difference to whether it’s going to look good even when it technically shouldn’t. Lovely drapey fabrics still show off what’s underneath even if it’s quite shapeless.
Oops, I mean the garment is shapeless, not what’s underneath!
hee hee I knew what you meant 😉
totally agree Jacqui – that I what I love about this dress so much!
Just found your blog and this dress is so cute! I love how you styled it! Would be great with a killer pair of heels too!
