Short and sweet today – I have to jump on the wedding bandwagon (what girl doesn’t love a royal wedding). Here are my two cents worth on the most important frocks of the day.
Catherine Middleton. One word. Princess.
She blew us all away, looking so regal and like she stepped out of another time and place. My VERY first thought when I saw the dress was – Grace Kelly – and I was surprised that no one else (that I heard) made the comparison on the night. So many commentators were expecting a modern, sleek number (much like Pippa’s I would imagine – more on that in a sec) but Catherine shone as the true princess she is.
Pippa Middleton. Maid of honour – almost a bride herself.
This will be the dress that this years bride wants to emulate. While Kate’s dress was regal and royal, Pippa’s was sleek and modern and sexy without being over the top. The cowl neck will flatter any bustline and the dress could be slightly altered to suit most figures (adding more of an a-line if you are a slight pear, for example).
Pippa’s dress has put a whole new spin on the traditional strapless, ball gown number that the majority of brides go for now. I predict Pippa (and Kate) have brought the sleeve back to the wedding dress – because let’s face it, not everyone was born to wear a strapless dress.
What did you think of the royal wedding? Who was your best-dressed guest? (who was your worst-dressed guest? or do we all know the answer to that, not mentioning any royal cousin’s names……)
I’m so with you Caitlin, it’s Pippa’s dress that will set the wedding dress trends for years to come. Would love to know which shapewear she’s employing!
