Now stick with me, this is nowhere near as scary as it sounds! In fact, you might be doing it without even knowing…. I’m talking about Double Denim.
But before you run, screaming back to the 80’s (or 90’s), there is definitely a modern, up-to-date way to do it, and I’m going to give you some expert tips on how to nail it.
Denim is such a versatile fabric, and so easy to wear for so many occasions, so it makes sense that we wear it together a little more right?
But to save you looking like Britney and Justin (you KNOW what I’m talking about) here are some tips and outfit ideas on how to wear your different denims together….
The Everyday Double Denim
The simplest way to wear your denims together is with jeans and a jacket….. so just make sure you choose two different colours together……in this case, black + a light wash.
SHOP THE LOOK: Just Jeans jacket $99.95 | Wink tee (similar from Andrea Moore) | Jeanswest black prima denim jeans $129 | Converse trainers $100
This is such an easy-to-wear double denim look for everyday, and I”m guessing how most of you will start dabbling with the trend. Lucky it’s so easy!
Date Night Double Denim
Now this doesn’t have to be just for date night, but it gives you a slightly more dressed- up version of the trend.
SHOP THE LOOK: Portmans cold-shoulder chambray top $89.95 | Max biker jeans in pebble $119.99 ^ | Saben “Tilly” clutch in mushroom $250 | Mollini heels from StyleTread $199.95 ^
Chambray (the lighter weight, softer fabric that looks like denim) is a great way to introduce the double denim trend into your wardrobe in a really versatile way, and I LOVE it with white!
Feminine Double Denim
Who says double denim has to include jeans? Pop a denim vest on over a chambray/denim dress and you’ve got a feminine spin on this easy-to-wear trend.
SHOP THE LOOK: Jacqui E chambray shirt dress $129.95 | Calvin Klein denim vest from The Iconic $89.99 ^ | Colette by Colette Hayman beaded necklace $14.99 | Number One Shoes ankle boots $49.99
Three looks, all working the double denim trend (and not a bad 90’s look in sight!), it’s one of those trends I love that anyone can wear because it’s not based on a specific shape of a garment – YOU get to choose how you wear it best to suit you!
So tell me what you think? Are you going to give the double denim a go?
