The sun is shining, it’s nice and warm outside, you’re heading to the beach… you have your trusty summer hat with you! Easy! Ok, but right now it’s not so sunny (especially where I am!) and it’s DEFINITELY not warm outside, and I’m CERTAINLY not heading to the beach…. but I’m still rocking my hats!

On a freezing cold day in Auckland, what better way to keep my head warm than with a hat!

I love me a good hat! They are a great way to add a little somethin’, somethin’ to any outfit. Also, I have long hair, it can take a while to blowdry every morning, I may skip some mornings and just stick a hat on…. (is that so bad?!)

Hats get labelled too often as summer accessories, but don’t discount them for winter too (and yes, beanies do count as hats, especially in colder climates! There are some great options out there for winter in suede or felt and as I have discovered more and more recently a winter hat can keep your head wonderfully warm when it is a LITTLE cold outside!

Here are three of my top picks for adding an extra bit of warmth to your winter wardrobe!

You can’t go wrong with a classic wide brim felt hat (plus it’s awesome on REALLY bad hair days)

Dejcuba ‘Rosie’ wide brim hat – RRP $69.95 (AUS) – click here to buy online

The asymmetrical brim gives this hat from Witchery a point of difference, but the neutral colour makes it perfect as a winter staple

Witchery Asymmetrical felt hat – RRP $59.95 (AUS) – click here to buy online

Add a pop of colour to a drab winter outfit with this bright beanie/beret.

Sportsgirl tangerine Toyko Dry Beret – RRP $19.95 (AUS) – click here to buy online

So if you have slept through the alarm and don’t have time to wash your hair (because that NEVER happens to me) or you stayed up too late watching back-to-back episodes of Revenge (that DEFINITELY never happens to me…..), a hat can be your saviour this winter!

Which one will you choose?
