No, we haven’t time-warped back to the 80’s! Quite the opposite actually.
For me, a denim jacket is an essential to any women’s wardrobe. It’s such a great piece to dress things down to a less formal occasion and can practically double your wardrobe. (Big call I know, but I’m sticking with my story…. Have a read of this post here to see what I mean)
So imagine my shock and horror when almost every styling client who wants the perfect “smart/causal” look, shudders when I mention adding a denim jacket to their look. “Oh god, I had one of those 15 years ago”. Well I’m sure you did, but that doesn’t mean you can’t wear an updated one now.

Young ‘uns (under 30)
This really is the time to be having fun with fashion! Trust me, you’ll never appreciate how amazing your body is in your 20’s until you’re no longer in your 20’s (am I right?!).

In your 30’s
The denim jacket should pretty much be your weekend uniform. Use it over EVERYTHING to dress it down.
My fave way to wear mine (seeing as I sit smack bang in this category) is with a really floaty, girly dress and trainers or sandals. It just brings everything down a notch.

In your 40’s
Like you’re 30’s, anything goes really! This should become a staple in your smart/casual wardrobe if it isn’t already.
I’m loving denim and khaki atm, such a fun combo – fresh, fun and relaxed but still stylish. Perfect combo right?!

Dressing your age has nothing to do with the individual pieces you are wearing, or where you buy theme, it’s ALL about how you put them together.
Keep your outfit classy and simple, and add a bit of spunk and sass with the denim. You’ll look amazing!

I am 70 and I have two denim jackets and one denim vest. They can dress up or dress down your ensemble depending on what you’re wearing. I find that when I wear my denim jackets I get more compliments and they make me feel youthful.

I’m 72 and I have several different denim jackets in different colors and a couple of vests. I wear them ALL the time. They’ve been my favorites since I was a young girl and that’s never changed. I’m at that place in my life where I wear what I like…don’t need approval! Ha!
