Big call I know, but I’m going to make it!
OK, so I know it won’t be the perfect tee for EVERYBODY, but it certainly is for me (so if you have boobs, listen up!). I know that one size doesn’t fit all, but this one comes pretty close. I can see it working on most people.
So first of all, here is the tee…..
SHOP IT HERE: Portmans V Neck Flutter Sleeve Tee (NZ $39.95)
I have it in more than one colour……..
Why do I love it so much? A couple of reasons.
1. The V-neck
So hard to find a v-neck tee. If you are bigger in the bust, a v-neck can help “divide and conquer” – that is, break up the surface area across your bust, making it look smaller. A v-neck can definitely work for a smaller bust too, just make sure it doesn’t sit toooo low.
2. The Cap Sleeve
The angle and detail on this sleeve works really nicely too. What you want to AVOID in a tee, is a sleeve that finishes right in line with your bust – all it does is widen that whole area. I always looks for a slightly shorter (cap) sleeve, or a slightly longer (3/4) sleeve.
3. The Fabric.
Ahhhhhhh. It all comes down to the fabric. I LOVE this fabric (it’s a Viscose/Elastane blend if you want to get technical) because it has DRAPE. It’s going to cling to the right bits, and skim over the bits we want it to skim over. It’s not tight, it’s not loose, it’s just right.
(a note on sizing. I’m a size 12 and I bought the M in the stripe and the black, BUT I went up to an L for the white. That is a personal preference because I didn’t want the white to be quite as fitted)
The beauty of a tee-shirt is that it will go with almost anything in your wardrobe! Rock it causally with jeans, try it with a skirt, or pair it back with some nicer pants for a casual-Friday option at work. For bonus inspiration, check out three ways I’ve style another tee here
What do you think? Are you a tee-lover? If not, then this is the tee for you!

Love the outfit, looks gorgeous on you. I had been eyeing up that t’shirt but worried with the fabric being viscose it would shrink. Have you found that with yours or would you be more likely to hand wash it? 🙂
Nope no shrinking at all (the elastane content sees to that) Viscose only shrinks when it’s 100% (and even then, you just need to iron it out into shape again)
Hi Kate
Help – why is it that we hang onto clothes that we no longer wear but still love. I have a blouse that I love the colour and pattern but just don’t wear and I am not sure why this is?? what do we do about this?
Susan
Hi Susan, there are lots of reasons! Sometimes you just need someone else to tell you its time to move it on 😉 You maybe feel like it’s “wasting” money because you COULD still wear it, but in reality you’re not wearing it, so time to either start wearing it again, or give it away/sell it/donate it.
I bought it today and it’s down to $29NZ too!
oh BOOM! even better!
Link to Portmans is not working 🙁
Sorry lady! Working now 🙂
Gorgeous tee and I’m so with you on the V-neck, going to pick myself up a couple of these for casual Fridays! xx
SUCH a great tee Megan!! you’ll love it x
Thanks for the heads up! I have never purchased a Portmans tshirt, but will order one today.
Its definitely a good one Kim!
Awesome thanks! Always on the look out for a good tee that doesn’t cling 🙂 By the way are those the Jeanswest Jeans pictured in a lot of your posts, as I really like them too …..
I know right?? They are the jeanswest jeans, I LIVE in them!
