Well I used to be, when I was younger, and didn’t stand on my feet all day everyday in a shop, and when I lived in Sydney where they have GREAT shoes. Now to be honest I am most comfortable off my feet, or at the very least, in havianas. To top it all off, the boy and I had an email conversation today that went something like this:

Me: ‘honey, will you still love me even if I start wearing Birkenstocks just every now and then? My feet are really sore”

Him: Of course I’ll still love you…just maybe a little less”

Me: “but my feet are really sore, how about just around the house on at times you are not there…..or if not, you alternative at this point is to give me a foot massage EVERY night when I get home from work…..

Him: “errrrrrr…….hmmmmmm”

The gorgeous red-soles wonders that are Christian Louboutin heels

Now this is said with NOOOOOO disrespect to you gals out there that wear birkies – In fact I know at least two of you that are reading this wear them with style (not mentioning names Emma and Kales – you both rock the Birkenstocks) but they are just. not. my. style…… at all. I am a high heel-wearing kinda fashionista! How did I go from (fake, but real leather) Louboutins to asking if it was alright for me to wear birkenstocks?!?!?

I want to say because it’s because my dear mother’s words about the dangers of high heels have finally sunk in (she is a physiotherapist) but no, I would wear them still…if I could. I think that is the problem! I am out of high heel practice!

There once was I time when I could strut down the footpath, chase after a cab whilst dragging a friend behind me, dance all night and them stumble home all in a hot pair of peep toes (because a real lady never EVER takes her heels off in public) but those days are long gone. I need a walking frame (or the stable arm of the boy) just to get me from front door to cab.

I think wearing heels are like so many other things (learning to tie your own shoes, cooking a mean lasagne, and using a GHD to create ‘bed head’ curls) you need to practice.

Tony Bianco Coventry heels - RRP $159.95

SO! My latest mission is to get back into the practice of wearing high heels (sorry Mumma). I’m calling on all my vertically blessed girlfriends (because us glamazons need to stick together. Did I mention I’m 6ft in a good heel?!) to help me get back into the habit of wearing heels. These HOT Tony Bianco animal print  peep toes are just the shoe to help me start…. who’s with me???

PS. I”m still going to buy my birkenstocks – they make them in a narrow width now, excite my life! (discovering that was the highlight of my day. If that isn’t reason to get back into wearing heels, I’m not sure what is!!)

I got them in olive too!!

UPDATE: So about 20 minutes after posting this blog, the boy suggested we go to the shops and this was the result – not one, but TWO pairs of heels (wedges count as heels right?!). All for the unbelievable price of $20 each!! But bargain hunting is a whole other story…..
