You guys know by now that I love a wardrobe that has variety in it. It’s the key to having your own unique style!

That means everything from designer to high street, rock-bottom bargains to investment pieces, NZ-made to (ethically made) off-shore purchases – variety is the spice of life, and style!

So this week I wanted to highlight a home-grown, NZ-made label, Désirée Clothing, designed and made in our capital, Wellington but the talented Désirée Turner. Here are some of my favourite pieces……

Désirée’s eponymous label focuses on creating clothing that is chic, comfortable and versatile making it perfect for both workwear and weekends.

She love’s being able to wear an outfit comfortably around the house and then change accessories to wear it out to dinner, looking effortlessly gorgeous the whole day – sounds right up the Chasing Cait style alley right??

Désirée has also thought about what women ask for in their clothing – everything she designs has at least a little sleeve, and comes below the knee.

She thinks about the fabrics she is using, are they wearable, easy to clean and care for, and versatile enough to take you from day to night. A girl after my own heart really!

I was lucky enough to get to play with a gorgeous dress from the new season – the Solar Sparkle Dress – and guys, it’s a sweatshirt fabric dress – with sequins!! All my dreams come true!

My first instinct with a dress like this is to style it back with leather. I love the combo of the feminine sequins and pink contrasted back with the edgy-ness of leather!

Here’s how I’m rocking it! (remember I’m also 8 months pregnant, but the dress isn’t specifically maternity (thank god it’s stretch!), so ANYONE can rock it!

I’ve sized up to a 14 to make room for bump, but if you love, buy your usual size. The fabric is so lovely and comfortable to wear, and the drop waist adds a feminine detail

I just love the sequins + sweatshirt fabric combo in this dress. You can dress it up like I have, or pair it down with some cool trainers and a leather jacket for a more daytime look. Once again, versatility is gold!

AND, just to really hammer home NZ-Made March, here’s a quick vid of Désirée herself cutting and sewing this actual dress for me! How fricken awesome is that!!!!

I love the relaxed feel of this label, (the Moon zero fabric waste dress is so next on my list!) and I really appreciate the effort and the thought that Désirée herself puts into every garment.

The prices are AMAZING for the quality, workmanship and style that goes into these pieces and worth saving up for if you need to (you can give Kmart a break for a few weeks right? 😉 ).

So make sure you head over to www.clothingbydesiree.com and have look at the whole collection, and come back and tell me what you think? Which is your fave?
