So this is not a traditional Label I Love post, as it’s more about a place, rather than a brand. But the point of this post is to introduce you all (especially all you Aucklanders) to a great little business called The Nail Studio. (sorry to all those not in Auckland – this post is still worth a read though! I promise!)

Set in the funky back streets of Newmarket (1/8 Osborne St to be exact), The Nail Studio is exactly what it promises – a loft-like studio set with amazing exposed red brick, and warm, inviting colours and decor. The space is small and cosy and for your appointment, it’s just you and the amazing Mardi Smith, owner of the Nail Studio.

Now I could go on about how experienced Mardi is (she’s been in the industry for over 20 yrs) or about how the hygiene standards are second to none (none of this wham, bam, thank you ma’am you get in some ‘other’ nail salons) or about the great choice of products and services (everything from Natural Nail Enhancements to Shellac application and removal) but the thing that keeps me going back time and time again to The Nail Studio is Mardi.

Her warm (and slightly dry) manner is welcoming, and her attention to detail is obvious from the word go. It’s just you and her during your appointment, she doesn’t rush you or make you feel like you are one of many on a production line.

She uses the best products out there, shows you how to care for your nails between treatments (make sure you are using cuticle oil ladies!) and doesn’t put pressure on you to re-book on the spot (which I find heaps of beauty salons do, I can’t handle the pressure!)

I’ve been going to Mardi for about a year to get my nails Shellac-ed (if you haven’t had Shellac before, read this post on how it changed my life!). Here are a few of the wonderful colours that Mardi has applied over the last year or so…

The white colour is “Cream Puff” and clearly my fave, the dark grey is “Asphalt” (great for winter) and the coral is called “Tropix’ – great for your summer holiday!

Do you get your nails done? I’d love to hear your recommendation for your local nail salon – tell me in the COMMENTS below and let’s share the nail-love!

Until next time,

In Love & Style Always

Cait xoxo
