Togs eh?

Who would have thought that such small pieces of fabric can cause so much angst, discussion, fear and judgement and that’s just in your own head!

Plus add all of the things being shouted at you on the internet about how you should feel about your own body….

“Love your body no matter what! Flaws and all!”
“No, it’s ok not to love your body”
“Wait, loose 5 kg and you’ll feel better about yourself”

Guess what the right answer is?

Do what works for you.

Let’s just get on with living every day, celebrating the small things; a cuddle from your babies, a sunny sky, or a fab pair of togs that will give you the confidence to enjoy a swim at the beach.

It’s times like these that I find myself thinking about what I want to teach and model for my girls as they are growing up, and body image and confidence are definitely high on that list.

I want them to know that there is no “perfect body”, that they are perfect just the way they are. Their body is amazing, it can do amazing things, and what it looks like is only the VERY tip of the iceberg.

And one of the easiest, and most effective ways to teach them, is to actually believe it, and demonstrate it myself!

…..*insert awkward segway to talk about my new fave togs brand here*

Let me tell you a little about Lilly & Lime, and why I love what they do.

If your boobies are on the bigger size of the D cup, you may have heard of this gorgeous Aussie swimwear label before (in fact, I featured them on the blog a little while back, you can read that post here).

I’m wearing Lilly & Lime Suzani Indigo Rash Guard $80 (Aus) | peach balconette top $80 | peach high waisted bottoms $45
(all kindly gifted to me)

Some of their amazing pieces are designed specifically for D-cup and up, but there are definitely heaps of styles that will work on you, even if you don’t fill out a D (the cap sleeve one pieces are a fave of mine).

I LOVE the bikini tops from Lilly & Lime – the balconette style I’m wearing under the rash top is constructed like a bra, so very supportive, and I can remove the straps if I want to get rid of those sneaky tan lines.

The high waisted briefs are awesome support for the post-baby belly, and the rash top is perfect for lazy girls like me because I don’t have to worry about sunscreen on my top half haha! (don’t worry, I’m still sun-smart.)

THE DETAILS

This clever brand came about because Emma-Jane and Ashleigh, the duo behind Lilly & Lime, both blessed with fuller cups themselves, just wanted togs that they could feel supported, stylish and comfortable in when getting on with their day at the beach.

SIZE RANGE: Aus/NZ size 6 – 22 (not all sizes available in all styles).

CUP SIZES: Lilly & Lime offers D-HH cups (but smaller busts may fit some styles).

FIT: I sized up to a 14 in both the top and bottom, but would recommend your usual size in the rash guard. There is a size guide video on the website that will help you work out what size is right for you. See it here.

PRICE RANGE: Bottoms start at $45, $80 for most tops and one pieces up to $160 (all prices are in Aus Dollars).
