Ahhhh the age-old conundrum, can I still be stylish and on trend on a budget. And the answer is YES! Money should never compromise style. It’s not about how much you have, it’s all about what you do with it
Lindauer recently asked their Facebook fans what burning style questions did the want me to answer for them, and the resounding response was “HOW TO DRESS WELL ON A BUDGET!” – something I can relate to for sure! (especially post-wedding!) So in response to those lovely gals who asked, here are three different looks for you life on a budget!
1. Weekend casual
People often get stuck on how to get that “not quite trackies and a jumper but not going to work” weekend casual feel. I’m going to let you in on one my my biggest styling secrets to getting this look right.
You want to have 1 piece that is SMART and 1 piece that is CASUAL – Mix it up a little! Here is a whole look I’ve put together for around $150 that you could wear on the sidelines at Saturday sport, to brunch with friends or just hanging out at home with the family – what ever your life needs.
GET THE LOOK: Glassons merino lounge pants $49.99 | The Warehouse printed tee $15 | EziBuy pull on sneaker in silver $39.99 | Boohoo.com slim fit denim jacket $45.
The merino pants are perfect for lounging around at home, but because they are merino (yup! How awesome is that!) they are perfect for the Saturday sidelines too! Add a hint of fun with the printed pants and the silver trainers, and the denim jacket just brings things down a notch. Easy, comfortable, stylish and affordable!
2. Weekday Workwear
Workwear is always a tricky one, but I think we’ve got this! I find dresses so much easier in Winter – Just add tights and hey presto, you’re pretty much sitting at $200 for a whole work look, not bad huh?
GET THE LOOK: EziBuy swing dress $69.99 | Boohoo.com belted trench $70 | Number One Shoes Ella dress heels $59.99 | Number One Shoes opaque tights $9.99
But really, winter dresses can be a great option for work – less to have to match, and layer it up with merino to keep warm. Opaque tights are a great way to lengthen your legs and I’ve chosen a trench with some shape to stop the bulk adding up as we add the layers.
3. Hitting the town
Now this doesn’t literally have to mean when you “hit the town”. it could be date night, work drinks of a friends birthday. You still want to look good (and keep warm), without the big price tag. Skinny jeans and heels are always a good formula, and you can get both at really good prices! The bling in the tee makes it feel a little more special, and a pop of colour on your lips always lifts a look!
GET THE LOOK: Glassons wet-look jeans $39.99 | Portmans striped embellished tee $59.95 (in store only) | Number One Shoes heels $49.99 | Rimmel lipstick from Farmers $16.99
Add the coat of your choice to this look to give you the warmth factor. Once you’re inside most places, the temp should be ok for jeans and a top anyway!
So there you have it, three looks for different occasions for under $200 each! It’s not as hard as you think

Until Next Time, In Love & Style Always,
This post was brought to you by Lindauer. Please support the brands that support this blog.
Perfect post for me! Always looking for budget friendly options being at stay at home but still wanting to look stylish. Those merino pants look great! And love the going out look, perfect for less formal nights out with girlfriends, and could easily swap out the heels for heeled black ankle boots. Love it! Look forward to more great posts. Thanks cait as always!
I love my Glassons merino joggers! I am finding it so cold at the moment – I just want to layer up and it’s too cold for tights and open shoes – I’m into thick socks and boots.
oh yay! I MUST Get me a pair!!! I’m with you on the cold! brrrrrrr
Some places can be so hit and miss when you are looking for things on the cheaper end of the scale. ASOS is a bit like that. I have got a couple of good options from Kmart recently – lined dresses especially. Cotton On can be good too. But like everywhere you have to be selective. Expensive clothes can also be rubbish fabric and badly made.
totally agree Kelly! There is something to be found everywhere – love Kmart too xx
