It’s the news we’ve all been waiting for! Kmart is set to open at Sylvia Park in Auckland’s East in 2019 and I’m going to help you celebrate.
It’s the bargain hunters paradise, responsible for pink and grey living rooms everywhere, as well as some great cheap and cheerful fashion choices (some of my personal faves come straight from the shelves of Kmart), not to mention ALL of the baby and toddler clothes.

There was a young(ish) lady called Nadia
Who was starting to get a bit lardy-er
She needed new clothes
And thought women’s wear was the go
At Kmart with caitlin and her friend tanya.
So many “squeee!” moments in Kmart- how to choose a department? Finding that one fashion piece that is too good to true- an on trend slip on shoe, a bright beach bag, that achingly perfect dress that cannot possibly be under 20$! But thrown in that extra style up date for a room design accent as you slide out the door- Kmart is a wonder and a curse, hours disappear but shopping highs are inevitable 😆
Ooh yes I would be straight to the underwear department getting a bra with an underwire! Can’t wait to get a gap in my cleavage again after spending the past 2.5 years pregnant, breastfeeding and then pregnant and breastfeeding again! Also a visit to the shoe department to get something with a heel! So over My Toms! #1 mum shoe. So prefect when carrying a toddler and a capsule but not a lot of sex appeal.
The styling advise would be perfect for my newly shaped body as I don’t think any of the clothes from my pre-mum days are gonna look any good with all the extra lady lumps I have been awarded for all my hard work producing tiny humans 🙂
Reasons why myself, you and Kmart would have a wonderful time together:
1. My name is Kate.
2. Jean jackets have become a wardrobe staple of mine after reading a post of your years ago.
3. I recently purchased a lovely mustard dress off Little Party Dress and realised once it arrived that I had indeed seen this dress before, on your blog.
4. As a newly turned 30 year old, who has also been at University for the past ten years, I have a strong desire to make myself and home look like “adulty,” but not the matching funds. I am well acquainted with the aisles of the Kmart homeware and clothing departments, which bring beauty and style into my life, on a budget.
5. I also love showering the little people, whose lives I get to be a part of through surrogacy aunthood, with gifts, and the children’s clothing department provides cute clothing that can be destroyed at playcentre guilt free.
Kate xo
haha 6. all of the above 😉
Definitely need a wardrobe/draw/ makeover with summer around the corner, too familiar with the kids dept, time to treat us busy mums!! X
Clothing and kitchen and decorating…
So cute things to check out!
Definitely women’s clothing. So many inexpensive options to bring style and a little bit of fun into your wardrobe. I have been eyeying up that ruffle skirt and a white bell sleeve top!! 👌👌👌
So my kids call me the Kmart queen cause I love shopping at Kmart! My favorite is homeware as I can redecorate anentire room for under $100!! It’s so much fun and the Homeware department is also great for parties! I would love to win this as with your tips womensware could become my new fav!!
How on earth does one choose just one department?! I pick shoes and homewards for my new house ☺
Oooh yes I would be in the bra department looking for something with an underwire! Been pregnant and nursing then pregnant and nursing again for the past 2.5 years and so ready for my cleavage to have a separation gap in it again! Also the shoe department to buy something with a heel as my Toms are so worn out from being the perfect “mum” shoe. Comfortable for carrying a toddler and a capsule round. Also my body no longer resembles its former self so could go for a little help on how to cover it without looking like the Rolly Dog from the toilet paper add. 🤦♀️
Oh my gosh way to hard to pick just one! Love everything about K-mart. ❤️My daughter and her BFF made up this slogan which they sing all the time. (Kmart your local department store yo yo!! ) You need to see it to appreciate it.😂 those two definitely deserve the voucher I could do with the styling.
I would love to buy some woman’s clothes I have four kids and my youngest weve been fostering for four years and its been a really hard few weeks would love a refresh
I shop at Kmart for homeware, toys and kids clothes – but never womenswear. It just hasn’t been on my radar for my own wardrobe but you’ve totally inspired me to check it out! Love the cherry blossom dress 🌸 So yeah – looking forward to that department.
Oh Caitlin…so hard to narrow it down to just one department in Kmart. That store is incredible. After some thought, I would love to get an upgrade on my current active wear which should motivate me to get out there and be seen exercising…. in which case I’d choose the sportswear section if I was to win.
hee hee soz! Activewear is a great choice!
So many unexpected gems in the clothing section 😉
Women’s clothing. I love being able to refresh my wardrobe at a reasonable price 😀
The women’s clothes and kids clothes. I am a teacher of French and Japanese, and I also have a 3 year old! I love K mart because the prices are so great, AND I often am able to find something French themed (my latest slogan t shirt for K mart says oui non) that I can wear in class! I also find their shorts and clothes are a bit more modest – short shorts are not really so good for teaching or bending over to deal with a 3 year old ha ha! I love your style Cait, would love to hit K mart with you 🙂 PS. I also love clashing print, and I just bought heaps of slogan t’s and the denim/polka dot culottes from cotton on after seeing your blog 🙂
oh yay! Glad I’ve inspired you to try something new 🙂
Definitely the homewares department I belong to sooooo many Kmart Facebook pages and always love a good Kmart hack!!!
I am looking forward to shopping in the kids section as I will be a new mum early next year.
Sooo hard to pick one, kids clothes definitely for a few bargains xx
Kmart is amazing! Exciting it’s coming to Sylvia Park. #1 toaster is such a beautiful colour, anything else that matches it would be on my shop list 😍
Love your picks Cait! Will be buying a few of those. I am really looking forward to the womanswear section, oh and the homewares section there is always something I desperately need!
I want all of the things right?
Which department you say…..
The “KMART” department!
Kmart is awesome, love the whole store. I simply couldn’t be limited to picking just one department!
haha best answer!
I love the homeware, kids clothing, & the sports wear is pretty cool too. Loving the selection in this post!
Woohoo! So close to home it’ll be dangerous! Love the homewares and women’s and kids fashion and would loooove a chance to shop with you Cait!
Such a difficult choice but I would say the kids clothing section with an active two year old this busy working Mumma can’t keep up with all the washing so he has a few more sets of clothes especially for daycare fun!
speaking my language sista! ALL of the washing with a 2 year old right?
So many departments to choose from and so little time and money! I love dreaming about the affordable homewares that I will one day fill my home with but for now I’m stuck in the kids clothes department because of kids who wreck their clothes and grow so darn quickly!
I know right?? Story of my life
Once upon a time there was a girl. Just an ordinary girl. She had a well-worn wardrobe, reminiscent of her 68-year-old mother’s, and her spark was dulled by a lack of confidence. She felt timid and shy, hiding behind baggy jumpers and jeans. Then, one magical day, she found her fairy godmother on a FB post. “Aha!” she cried! “Fairy Godmother, please help me!”
“Of course, I work miracles for others on a daily basis so I’m sure I can help you too,” she replied. “Let me take you to KMart.”
So off they went and after a life-changing shop and style session they all lived happily (and sparklier) ever after.
The end.
what an AWESOME fairytale!!! xx
🎉🎉🎉OMG Cait, I can’t wait for Kmart to open to delve into their clothing for a new wardrobe. I’ve gotten into a fashion rut so your expert guidance would be an amazing 🍒cherry on the top. This store opening has me 😍 loving that I will be able to walk there but there is the fact that I may not be able to carry it all 🏡home might need a 🚛truck! 😃 I can see now that my wallet will NOT be loving the new addition to my neighborhood😬 #shoplocal #fashiononashoestring #kmarteverydaykeepsthedoctoraway
not such good news for the wallets right??
For the first time in nearly 10 years- I’d love to spend it on me! I’m still wearing shirts that I got when I was pregnant with my first and have lost so much weight that they’re threadbare, out of shape and too big. I get massive guilt buying for myself, yet have the most stylish 3 girls I could imagine. Would be so grateful not only for the voucher but a bit of direction on style as well. Thank you!
good luck lovely Sam! And even if you don’t win, promise me that you’ll go and treat yourself to something new sometime soon – you DESERVE it!! xx
Kids – love going in shopping for my little man. Although always come out with way more than went in for. Always a blast.
Exciting! Women’s clothing department – want to know how to make budget items look really fashionable
Swati
Whoohoo best news…no more saving up my KMart trips to justify the journey out to the Botany store. Cant wait! Hard to choose a sole department…I do love homewares, kids clothing, toys and storage 😉😆🤣
Summer baby clothes for my second little boy due in January. All my firstborns newborn clothes are too warm as he was born in August! 🙂
Yay! Homewares for sure. I always go to Kmart to “quickly” get something for the kids and leave with a trolley full of plates, candles, vases, baskets ( oh so many baskets) and the occasional rug. 🤷🏻♀️
Definitely women’s!!!! Never leave KMart without atleast one new item- that’s why I don’t go very often!
Oh my gosh all my dreams coming true, Kmart at Sylvia Park just down the rd, super excite!!
Woman’s wear for me, then girls wear for my mini-me and then the Kids Art section we’re always on the hunt for a creative treat, then Homewares mummy’s fav treat and a trip well done 🙌🏻 Would love to be styled my you, BONUS 😀
K Mart Sylvia Park
Could just steal my heart
With homewares, fashion & kids’ stuff too
What is a girl going to do!
Keeping an eye out for the date,
And hoping I get to go shopping with Cait!
Best news!!! I’m most looking forward to shopping the woman’s wear department. My first baby is due in a week and I’m really looking forward to buying normal clothing again for myself after living in frumpy maternity clothes and spending all my money on baby stuff.
I am so excited to have a kmart close by. I can’t wait to shop up a storm in the homepages department. We’ve just moved into our new house and it is empty 🙁 so need to start filling it up. Since we spent all our money building it kmart is going to be amazing.
This is very exciting! I love Kmart and Sylvia Park. It is the best shopping trip ever to get both in
Definitely the puppy 🐶 department, I almost spend as much on Harry as I do myself, haha.
This is like making us pick
Our favourite favourite chocolate or ice cream .. this shouldn’t have to be done.. love them all!
Oooh Kmart for the win! I’m torn between the homewares section, kids – cos OMG everything is adorable! And the womens clothing cos this new mama needs some style revamping – where that awesome time with you will come in!
In the homewares
