It’s that age old Fashion Week dilemma – do I wear something BY the designer TO the designers show? Or will I risk someone else wearing it too….. With the Trelise Cooper show tonight, I have the odd TC piece to chose from… but in the end I went for “fashion week black” with this gorgeous Decjuba jumpsuit and added some Queensland colour with my boohoo.com heels.
Jumpsuit – Decjuba | Blazer – Jacqui E | Clutch – Portmans | Shoes – boohoo.com
THE RUNWAY
The week kicked off with an amazing spectacle of a show from NOM*d – complete with 8 live drummers. The atmosphere was dark and eerie and exciting!
Shen, a newcomer to Fashion Week showed a gorgeous, feminine collection full of muted tones and metallics. There was definitely be a few pieces that I could see working their way into MY wardrobe next Winter!
The New Generation show featured three up-and-coming NZ designers, at least one of which you will see a lot more of on the blog! I had the pleasure of meeting up with Désirée Turner from Désirée before FW and we chatted on like old friends for almost 2 hours! (oh and she makes gorgeous, wearable clothes too!). The other two labels that featured were Amber Whitecliffe and Frances Jerard – both fun and gorgeous in their own right.
And then of course, the always amazing Trelise Cooper to wrap up the night for me. The shimmer, the print, the shapes – it was THE show of the day for me. I’m constantly blown away by how she reinvents herself every season. The shapes and prints and styling combos just get bolder and bolder, but still seem to be totally current!
The standout shape for me coming off the catwalk was the MIDI SKIRT – they are already starting to infiltrate our Spring wardrobe, but judging by the runway – they will be huge for Winter too (just make sure you wear it with a heel)
Here are just a few of the amazing looks that came down the runway
