Who doesn’t love a jumpsuit! (really? You don’t? Then make sure you keep reading, I’ll change your mind in no time!)
Well I love a jumpsuit, particularly black ones, with long legs (as opposed to a playsuit – the ones with short legs). I think they are a really versatile piece to have in your wardrobe PLUS they are kinda like a dress in that you only have to put one thing on and you are dressed. No need to work out if the top but goes with the bottom bit etc etc.
So I managed to nab a great Decjuba jumpsuit last year after putting about 6 personal styling clients in it (I got jumpsuit envy) and I’m so glad I got it! I’ve worn it over and over again to heaps of different events and meetings and client visits…. the list goes on.
And now I want to share with YOU how versatile a basic, black jumpsuit can be in your wardrobe. So here are three different ways to rock your jumpsuit!
Weekend Casual
It’s really the ease of wearing a jumpsuit that gets me every time! I’d wear this to brunch with friends, or hanging out with my family. A straw hat always helps dress everything down, as does the denim vest (or jacket as it gets cooler!).
Flat shoes work because this jumpsuit has a tapered hem on the bottom – if there is a fuller leg, you might need to wear heels or wedges to elongate your leg (which will make you look taller and slimmer)
Daytime Chic
I was heading to a hen’s day and I liked the idea of something simple, but I added some colourful accessories to make it seem less “nighttime”.
Most jumpsuits are fabrics that can be worn day or night, so it’s really up to you how you choose to accessorise it.
For a smart-casual look like this one, add pops of colour to make the jumpsuit seem more “day” appropriate. You could totally rock this look for work too (depending on where you work), just add a blazer or cool cardigan if need be.
Nighttime Glam
A dinner date, birthday drinks or a work do – this is the perfect go-to piece for any of these events! You could even wear it to work (maybe put it back with a blazer and brogues for work) and then whip out the heels, clutch and lippy to glam it up.
I go to a lot of events that are “dressy, but not cocktail” and this is a perfect option – plus black is always safe. Use accessories to put your own stamp on the look.
So! Now to get your hands on your very own jumpsuit. I’m sorry to say that the Decjuba  jumpsuit I’m wearing isn’t available any more, but here are three that ARE!
SHOP THE SUITS: Sacha Drake “Solange” jumpsuit $249 | Emerge from EziBuy jumpsuit $74.99 | Â Wish jumpsuit from The Iconic $159.95
Expert tip: When you are trying on a jumpsuit, try a couple of sizes! I often go up to a size 14 (I’m a pretty standard size 12) because I have long legs. Don’t se scared to go up or down a size to get the fit you are after.
The black jumpsuit is actually a great versatile addition to your transseaonal wardrobe. Pick and choose the look above and accessorise accordingly!

I’m with you, gorgeous! I totally agree that a playsuit/jumpsuit is an instant outfit – much like a dress – and is a super versatile piece. I think the best place to start if you’ve never owned one is by trying on a black jumpsuit. I’ve had mine for a while now and our love affair is still going strong!
How amazing are they! You’re rocking that wee playsuit over on Sonia Styling too babe!! x
Love all three of these looks. Yes you are close to persuading me I need a jumpsuit. I do own a playsuit but I like the idea of the black jumpsuit for dressier occasions. Will get trying!
do it! you won’t look back I promise!! xx
Wow.. love these 3 options. Such a versatile piece. I’ve tried a few on hoping to buy one but they’ve all been the wrong shape/cut and just haven’t done it for me. I do like the look of the wish one above so might check it out! Thanks! X
