Recently The Boy and I headed to Thailand for 10 days to attend the wedding of one of my oldest, best-est friends in Phuket – it’s was amazing! (More about that in a later post).
And what kind of fashion/beauty blogger would I be if I didn’t take a snap of an outfit or two? A terrible one right?! So here is a quick rundown of just some of the outfits I wore on my holiday!
Beach resort, here I come!
32 degrees and 98% humidity all day long? Yes please! After 12 hours STRAIGHT on an airplane (which terrified me just quietly) we finally hit our first stop – Phuket and The Merlin Beach Resort.
And whilst hanging by the pool (or shopping in town, or riding in a tuk tuk, or drinking cocktails, or eating yummy Thai food, or almost anything) a pair of bikinis and a bright top was the way to go!
The thing I wore the most….
My trusty straw hat came in VERY handy under the beating Thailand sun – it also was a trusty fan in the sweltering humidity! Looking back at all the pictures, it seemed to travel almost everywhere with me so I though it deserved its own special mention:
The wedding….
There is a whole other post coming on the wedding, and why I wore THIS dress is particular To make a long story short, the dress I was SUPPOSED to wear, as well as The Boy’s suit were left in Auckland so this is the dress I was left with. I think it turned out OK as a backup don’t you think?
Apparently orange is my favourite colour
I noticed a reoccurring theme in quite a few of my outfits on this trip (one day my girlfriend Marissa and I BOTH rocked up in the same colour). Orange seems to be my new best friend. It seems to make my skin look more tanned and healthy, plus sets off my brown hair and eyes. I even bought an orange dress while I was there! (Stay tuned for a future blog post on what I bought – squeeeeee!) So here are a few of my orange options…..
and the love affair with orange continues……
Sky high
One of THE most amazing places I have even been in my life is Moon Bar, 61 floors up on the top on the Banyan Tree Hotel in downtown Bangkok. 365 degree views of the city, nothing else above you – incredible! So incredible, we had to go there not once, but twice just to take it all in. And of course a trip to a swanky bar is a great excuse to dress up a little! Here’s what I wore on our two trips up the longest elevator ride of my life….
They say hindsight is a wonderful thing, and looking back I probably didn’t need to pack as many clothes as I did (foolish move on my part, left less room for shopping!).
So my tips for anyone heading on an island holiday soon? Pack light, pack well and save room for shopping because you’ll probably end up wearing the same thing most days anyway! I know I did! (but I still managed to squeeze some shopping in… more on that next time!)
