Who doesn’t love a striped dress (I think I now own about 6), so when I saw this gorgeous number from NZ designer Belle + Beau, I knew it would fit right into my wardrobe.
SHOP THE DRESS: Belle + Beau “Jessie” maxi stripe dress $179
Now I know it’s not the cheapest frock on the block, (you can read my opinion on THAT topic here) but what I do love about it, and the whole Belle + Beau brand, is that it’s made from ethically sourced, organic cotton knitted and coloured right here in NZ. To be honest, I discovered this amazing local brand because the team at Anchor Organic Milk asked me look into organic fashion brands here in New Zealand, to coincide with the launch of their new Organic Milk – and I was SO amazing at the calibre of fashion brands that are in this category!
(You can read some more about their sustainability and socially responsible fashion here)
So we have a cute, socially responsible, and organically made dress (check), and now let’s talk about how to integrate it into your exciting every day wardrobe.
I love doing these 1 item, 3 ways posts for you, as it definitely stretches my styling muscles, making me look at my own wardrobe in different, more versatile ways – so let’s get into it!
The Weekend Casual Look
Size note: I’m wearing an M and I’m a size 12
Why it works: It’s a cotton dress, it’s perfect for the weekend! I’ve used a denim shirt tied around my waist to disguise my tummy a little and teamed it back with some trainers to play on the Sports Luxe trend that’s still hanging around (thank goodness!)
What else you could use: Denim jacket, ballet flats, a straw fedora hat
The Weekday Work Look
Why it works: It’s got some nice shape to it so it’s not too sloppy for the office. The length of it lends itself nicely to a heel (that midi length always works well with a heel). I’ve added a soft trench so it doesn’t feel so corporate, you could also wear this look out at night for a casual date-night or drink-with-friends outfit.
What else could you use: Pointy toe pumps, a structured blazer
The Night Time Glam Look
Why it works: Who says you can’t be comfortable when you’re dressing up! The black colour helps (it doesn’t look so day-time as, say, a navy and white stripe). A sexy shoe and a leather jacket will lift practically ANYTHING to night-time status. I’ve also glammed up the hair and makeup, that will always make a good impression
What else you could use: Statement coat, high-heeled boots, statement necklace
Bet you didn’t think a cotton dress could be seen as night-time glam did you! I also love that Belle + Beau make beautiful organic pieces that can fit right into our everyday lives, just like Anchor Organic Milk, who’ve brought you this blog post, can fit into your everyday eating habits!
Jump on over to the Belle + Beau site and tell me what YOUR favourite piece is and how you can see it fitting into your everyday life, I’d love to know

Love the post and the dress. In the section where you’re wearing the dress for work, where did you get your long coat from? I absolutely love it.
