The Queenslander in me is so happy to see so much colour and print about this summer! It makes a nice change from the standard NZ navy and black staples right?
If you’re on the same wave-length, make sure you check out this blog from last week on how to dress like a Queenslander too!
So I wanted to stick with the fun colour / print theme this week and show you how you can combine all of the gorgeous colours in ways you maybe wouldn’t expect (or maybe you are super-adventurous and already do!).
We don’t always have to mix colour with black or white, so why not try one of these cool combos instead!
COLOUR COMBO #1: MUSTARD + RED
Here’s the Pin-spiration board (I love creating Pinterest boards when I’m working on a new trend or colour combo. It’s a great place to get cool ideas you might not have thought of yourself)
I love the focus on the mustard, with the pop of red as the accent, and even a bit of navy thrown in, but if red is more your thing, you could totally switch it up!
Don’t forget that you can use make-up to add that little accent colour if you don’t want to go OTT. Lipstick or nail polish are both great ways to add that pop of red to a mustard look.
So here is how you can actually shop the combo in stores now….

COLOUR COMBO #2: LILAC + NAVY
Now I know I was just paying out navy for summer, but if you add a fresh colour with it like lilac, then it definitely brightens up your look.
These shades work together well because they are both cool tones, so the compliment, but they are also just both really fresh and sophisticated.
This is a great colour combo if you don’t necessarily want something really bright, but still want to steer clear of black and white.
Here’s my PIn-spiration board….
ooooh I just love the freshness of this combo! You could also include white in the mix for summer.
You might also be surprised at how many prints combine this colour combo too (see the pants below for example). Print is always a great way to try a new colour combo without having to put the pieces together yourself…. but if you DO want to do that, here are some pieces that will help…..

COLOUR COMBO #3: GREEN + BLUSH PINK
Slightly unexpected, but this colour combo is actually quite on trend if you look at the tropical print crazy this is all around us for summer!
You can choose the green you like the best, be it forest or bright, and then add the blush detail for a soft, summery look.
Here’s the Pin-spiration…
Again, print is a great way to try this colour combo, or you can totally do the block colours together too!
