So every now and then I totally cave on a trend. And I SWORE that this is a trend I wouldn’t get suckered into, but I did – and I have to say I kinda like it!
What I like about this trend, is that you can show as much, or as little of your body as you like! So don’t feel that you have to have a super-flat stomach, or be a teeny size 8 to try it – I am/have neither but I’m a total convert.
So here is the latest trend I have been trying: The Crop Top
In a set: What I like about this trend, is that at first glance, you don’t even see the spit! From certain angles it just looks like I’m wearing a dress. It’s only when you move that there is a little flash of skin.
The skirt in this set is HIGH WAISTED, so not only is my tummy mostly covered, but the bottom hem of the top sits down over the top hem of the skirt, give you some more camouflage.
SHOP THE SET: Warehouse from ASOS Enlarge Floral Bonded Crop Top $115.15 |Â Â Warehouse from ASOS Enlarged Floral Bonded Pencil Co-Ord Skirt $136.56Â | I’m wearing a size 12 top and size 14 skirt (but probably would have been fine in the size 12 skirt too – true to size)
Print and texture clash: Again this is about distraction (and a wonderfully HIGH WAISTED skirt). By clashing prints and texture, it isn’t so obvious that there is skin on show.
Also the flare of the A-line skirt, widens your hips, making your waist look smaller in comparison, which is the whole point of the Crop Top trend, to define your waist and make it look smaller.
SHOP THE LOOK: Kmart crop top (in stores now) $12 | EziBuy lace skirt $74.99 (true to size, I’m wearing size 12) | Rochas boots from Shopbop.com – similar here from Number One Shoes
Night Glam: This is the perfect trend to rock out to a party or “do” you have to go to over the summer. It lets you mix and match and you don’t have to find that perfectly (impossible to find) fitting dress.
SHOP THE LOOK: Boohoo.com “Samantha” grid crop top $55 (I’m wearing the size 12 and it’s true to size) | Boohoo.com “Lucy” box pleated faux leather skirt $25 (I’m wearing the 14. I always go up a size in boohoo.com bottom halves) | Boohoo.com “Siena” heels (only red left) $30Â
So if I can do it, YOU can do it – What do you think? Is this a trend you would think about giving a go this Summer? It can definitely be done in a classy, stylish way!
Until Next Time,
In Style & Love Always
Cait xoxo

Love the ‘crop top’ look on you Cait! I never thought I’d get into that trend to be honest but I think you might have convinced me to try it at least!
I think I’ll start with something like your first ensemble and show just a little bit to start 🙂
haha thanks lady, I was TOTALLY the same, until I actually gave it a go! You would totally rock it too xx
love these cute ways of wearing crop tops without showing too much tummy!

haha I’m all about the “not showing of the tummy!”
I just bought a crop top set last week after finally embracing this trend! I blogged about it last week…you look great xxx
oh go you!!! I’ll have to make sure I pop over and read it xx
Cait you look so hot- rocking this look.. and you make it look so feminine glam-as opposed to 90s teen…i love it- but really struggle to find that lace white-type skirt that suits me to with! so far- going with high waisted trousers or pencils.
thanks lady! try boohoo.com – they have a whole bunch of different lengths. Portmans is good for the full skirts too x
You look fantastic in all 3 outfits! As a very curvy girl I don’t think I could get away with the crop top look. However I’ve been thinking about some dresses for an upcoming ball we have in the new year. I was wanting to do a navy/white striped crop top over a pink ball gown skirt. I’m guessing if the skirt is high wasted enough I can get away with it. I’m thinking about going to my local tailor here in Doha to get it specially made just for me.
that sounds GORGEOUS Sarah! You are totally right. It’s all about getting the height of the skirt right (high waisted, right on your teeiest part!) and making sure the crop top has overhang 😉
Totally killing this look! You look brilliant!!!
I think I need to try! You have inspired me!
x Kirsty
oh thanks honey! You’ll totally nail it too xx
LURVE that Samantha crop – amazing!
We have an outside summery wedding coming up and I’m considering giving a floral bright crop combo a try?!
Thanks for the ideas and inspiration.

my pleasure lovely! I think you should definitely give a floral combo a go, there are some great ones out there atm! x
